Produced by [[Legendary Pictures]] and distributed by [[Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures]], it will be the sixth and final film in the [[Minecraft (franchise)|Mineverse]] and the direct sequel to [[Minecraft: Nether Infinite (film)|''Minecraft: Nether Infinite'']] (2023).

The film was originally going to be directed and written by Freddie Goodwin, however he died in 2024. The film was delayed until March 2027 with it being left open with who will direct and write the film.

Black was cast in the role in the Craftinverse beginning with ''[[Minecraft season 1|Minecraft Season One]]'' (2022).
