As ancient gods rise from the sands and clash with the legacy of the Amazons, Diana must confront the mythology of her own people and prevent a global reckoning that could reduce civilization to dust.

Development of a new Wonder Woman film began following the announcement of the DCCU’s Chapter One: ''Crisis'' slate in January 2025. The project was officially confirmed in October 2025, with Jennifer Kent signed on to direct and Emerald Fennell attached as screenwriter. The film was envisioned as a mythological thriller exploring Diana’s roots, and would serve as her introduction to the DCCU continuity.

Pre-production began in early 2026. Filming commenced in June 2026, with principal photography taking place across Morocco, Jordan, and at Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom. The film remains in production as of September 2026.

In October 2025, DC Studios confirmed ''Wonder Woman: Gods of Dust'' as the third entry in the DC Cinematic Universe following ''[[Superman: Legacy of Tomorrow]]'' and ''[[The Brave and the Bold]]''. The film was designed to reintroduce Wonder Woman under a new continuity, separate from previous franchise iterations. Jennifer Kent, known for ''The Babadook'', was hired to direct, while Emerald Fennell joined as screenwriter.

Fennell described the screenplay as “a mythic psychological descent” through forgotten godhood, with Diana facing challenges that blur the lines between divine responsibility and human empathy.
