The phase began with Deadpool 2, which was released on May 21, 2026, and is scheduled to conclude with The Fantastic Four: Doomworld on November 23, 2028. Freddie Goodwin produces each film in the phase.
The films of the phase include Deadpool 2, Black Panther: Kingdoms at War, Superman: Worlds Apart, Spider-Man: Web of Worlds, School Warrior: Shadow Protocol, Doctor Strange: Nightmare Realm, Avengers: Incursion, and The Fantastic Four: Doomworld. The phase's overarching storyline concerns the destabilization of reality following the destruction of the Time Ripper in Deadpool 2 and the efforts of Victor von Doom to combine technology, magic, vibranium, and interdimensional energy to create a new reality under his control.

Development
By 2022, Mob Productions president Mark Rogueson said that the studio had developed general storylines for the Mob Cinematic Universe through 2028. The company planned for Phase Two to expand beyond the characters introduced during Phase One and include heroes licensed from multiple comic-book publishers.[1]
Following the conclusion of Phase One, Goodwin said that its successor would explore the consequences of heroes from previously separate worlds becoming aware of one another. The studio wanted the phase to retain individual genres for each film while gradually building toward a crossover involving the collapse of several realities.[2]
Development of Deadpool 2 began in late 2024 following the commercial success of Deadpool & Wolverine. The film was selected as the opening installment of Phase Two because its story involved damage to the structure of the multiverse caused by the destruction of the Time Ripper.[3]
At the Mob Productions Showcase on June 13, 2025, Goodwin announced that Phase Two would begin in May 2026. The initial presentation included Deadpool 2 and several projects that were subsequently reworked or removed from the slate.[4] Goodwin said the studio did not want to announce the phase's concluding crossover until its central antagonist had been introduced in earlier films.
During development of the phase, the writers of the individual films met with Goodwin and a central story group to coordinate their depictions of incursions, temporal fractures, and the fictional nations of Wakanda and Latveria. Goodwin said the filmmakers were not required to include extensive crossover material, but each film would contain consequences relevant to the larger narrative.[2]
In December 2025, Mob Productions announced a revised slate consisting of eight films. The studio confirmed that Phase Two would conclude with The Fantastic Four: Doomworld, a crossover centered on Victor von Doom and the Fantastic Four.[5] The title had previously appeared in internal production documents under the working title World Without Tomorrow.
The revised slate removed several projects that had been considered during early development. Goodwin said some were moved to later phases while others were combined with existing films. He described the finalized version of Phase Two as a continuous escalation from small temporal disturbances in Deadpool 2 to the creation of Doomworld in the phase's final film.[6]

Deadpool 2 (2026)
Eighteen months after the destruction of the Time Ripper, Wade Wilson / Deadpool and Logan / Wolverine are recruited by the Time Variance Authority after fragments of the device begin causing erased timelines to overlap with Earth-10005. They encounter Madcap, an immortal survivor of a pruned universe who intends to combine every surviving timeline into a single reality where nobody can permanently lose another person.
Lyra Stormwind directed the film from a screenplay written by Natalie Kingsley, Oliver Greenfield, Penelope Frost, Quentin Hart, Rebecca Wells, and Samuel Preston. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reprised their roles as Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively, with Morena Baccarin, Sam Rockwell, Josh Brolin, Dafne Keen, Zazie Beetz, Karan Soni, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, Stefan Kapičić, and Matthew Macfadyen also starring.[3]
Principal photography began in July 2025 at Pinewood Studios, with additional filming in London, Vancouver, and New York State. Production concluded in January 2026, followed by additional photography in February.[3]
The film premiered in Los Angeles on May 16, 2026, and was released in the United States on May 21 as the first film of Phase Two. It received generally positive reviews and grossed $972.4 million worldwide against a production budget of $215 million.[7][8]
The temporal disturbances created during the film form the initial cause of the phase's wider incursion storyline. Its mid-credits scene depicts an unidentified masked figure entering Earth-616 through a damaged timeline. The figure is later revealed to have been an agent working for Victor von Doom.[2]
Black Panther: Kingdoms at War (2026)
Following the public exposure of Wakanda's resources, Shuri / Black Panther attempts to prevent a conflict between Wakanda, Talokan, and several nations seeking access to vibranium. The situation escalates when Latverian operatives steal an experimental vibranium core capable of stabilizing matter affected by temporal incursions.
The film stars Letitia Wright as Shuri, alongside Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Michaela Coel, and Cillian Murphy as Victor von Doom. Doom appears publicly as the ruler of Latveria and offers to negotiate an end to the international conflict while secretly manipulating each faction.[9]
Nia DaCosta was hired to direct in August 2024 and co-wrote the screenplay with Marcus Cole. DaCosta described the film as a political thriller concerning the consequences of Wakanda becoming a visible global power.[10]

Superman: Worlds Apart (2027)
After several districts of Metropolis are replaced by structures from an alternate Earth, Clark Kent / Superman investigates a series of incursions that expose the existence of parallel versions of Krypton. At the same time, Lex Luthor attempts to reproduce Kryptonian technology recovered from one of the incursions.
David Corenswet stars as Superman, alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner. Cillian Murphy reprises his role as Doom, who supplies Luthor with technology capable of detecting unstable realities.[11]
Kieran Vale directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Eva Monroe. Vale said the film would contrast Superman's belief that different worlds can coexist with Luthor and Doom's belief that only one reality can survive the incursions.[12]
Filming began in May 2026 in Cleveland, Atlanta, and London. The production uses practical Metropolis streets combined with altered versions of the same sets to depict sections of alternate Earths.[12]
The film is scheduled to be released on February 18, 2027. Its final scene depicts Doom recovering a Kryptonian artificial intelligence containing information about the collapse of an earlier multiverse.[11]
Spider-Man: Web of Worlds (2027)
Peter Parker / Spider-Man begins experiencing memories belonging to alternate versions of himself after the Web of Life and Destiny becomes entangled with the temporal fractures affecting Earth-616. He is contacted by Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and Miguel O'Hara and becomes involved in a conflict over whether unstable worlds should be disconnected from the Web.
Tom Holland reprises his role as Peter Parker, with Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, and Oscar Isaac also starring. Reynolds appears as Deadpool after entering the Web while attempting to use a damaged TVA device.[13]
Destin Daniel Cretton directs from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The film combines live-action characters with several animated realities, with Moore, Steinfeld, and Isaac portraying live-action versions of characters they previously voiced.[14]
The film entered pre-production in early 2026. Principal photography is scheduled to begin in September 2026 in Atlanta, New York City, and London.[14]
Web of Worlds is scheduled to be released by Sony Pictures Releasing on July 8, 2027. The film reveals that an unidentified outside force has been mapping connections between realities through the Web. A post-credits scene identifies Doom as the person responsible.[13]
School Warrior: Shadow Protocol (2027)
Teenager Alex Singh attempts to balance school, family, and his activities as the vigilante School Warrior after receiving visions of a future in which his city has been absorbed into a world ruled by Doom. Alex discovers that a covert organization known as the Shadow Protocol has been collecting young people with abilities and studying their possible roles in future incursions.
Aryan Simhadri stars as Alex Singh / School Warrior, alongside Mckenna Grace, Rahul Kohli, Geraldine Viswanathan, Rahul Bose, and Shohreh Aghdashloo. Anthony Mackie appears as Sam Wilson / Captain America, who investigates the Shadow Protocol after learning that it has obtained technology from the TVA.[15]
The film is directed by Aisha Raman from a screenplay by Priya Shah and Daniel Cho. Raman described it as a coming-of-age thriller influenced by espionage films and stories concerning the pressure placed on young superheroes.[16]
Pre-production began in February 2026, with filming scheduled to commence in October in Toronto, Melbourne, and Adelaide. The production is intended to use practical school and suburban locations rather than construct most environments on soundstages.[16]
The film is scheduled to be released on November 18, 2027.
Doctor Strange: Nightmare Realm (2028)
Stephen Strange and Clea investigate a supernatural epidemic causing people across multiple realities to share the same nightmares. They discover that Nightmare has expanded his realm through fractures created by the incursions and is working with Doom in exchange for access to the waking world.
Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Strange, alongside Charlize Theron, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, and Elizabeth Olsen. Cillian Murphy reprises his role as Doom, whose study of Nightmare's dimension allows him to combine magical environments with the physical matter collected from other realities.[17]
Scott Derrickson returned to direct after previously directing Doctor Strange (2016). Jade Bartlett and Michael Waldron wrote the screenplay. Derrickson said the film would emphasize supernatural horror and depict the Nightmare Realm as a location shaped by the fears of the characters entering it.[18]
The film entered development in October 2025. Pre-production is scheduled to begin in late 2026, with filming planned for 2027.[18]
Nightmare Realm is scheduled to be released on May 11, 2028.
Avengers: Incursion (2028)
As multiple realities begin colliding with Earth-616, Sam Wilson assembles a new group of Avengers consisting of Black Panther, Superman, Spider-Man, School Warrior, Doctor Strange, Deadpool, Wolverine, and other heroes. Their attempts to prevent the incursions bring them into conflict with Doom, who claims that destroying selected realities is the only way to preserve any form of existence.
Anthony Mackie, Letitia Wright, David Corenswet, Tom Holland, Aryan Simhadri, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ryan Reynolds, and Hugh Jackman reprise their respective roles. Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach appear as Reed Richards, Susan Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm, respectively, introducing the Fantastic Four before the phase finale.[19]
Anthony Russo and Joe Russo direct from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Goodwin described the film as the first half of Phase Two's concluding event, while emphasizing that it would retain an ending separate from Doomworld.[20]

The Fantastic Four: Doomworld (2028)
Following Doom's victory in Avengers: Incursion, the Fantastic Four awaken in a patchwork reality constructed from fragments of destroyed universes. Reed Richards attempts to restore the multiverse while Sue Storm organizes a resistance against Doom, whose control of the world's physical laws has made him functionally omnipotent.
Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach star as Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic, Susan Storm / Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm / Human Torch, and Ben Grimm / the Thing. Timeline
The films of Phase Two generally occur in release order. Deadpool 2 takes place eighteen months after Deadpool & Wolverine and causes the temporal damage that affects the remainder of the phase.[2]
Black Panther: Kingdoms at War, Superman: Worlds Apart, and Spider-Man: Web of Worlds take place during the growing period of instability that follows the first echo incursions. School Warrior: Shadow Protocol occurs after the public becomes aware that multiple realities exist, while Doctor Strange: Nightmare Realm directly precedes the large-scale incursions depicted in Avengers: Incursion.[2]

Recurring elements
Incursions
Temporal and dimensional incursions form the principal recurring threat of Phase Two. They begin after the Time Ripper is destroyed in Deadpool 2, scattering temporal energy across several realities. The damage causes people, locations, and physical laws from different universes to temporarily overlap.[2]
The incursions initially appear as localized events before becoming more extensive in Superman: Worlds Apart and Spider-Man: Web of Worlds. By Doctor Strange: Nightmare Realm, Doom has learned to deliberately create and control them.[2]
Victor von Doom
Victor von Doom serves as the overarching antagonist of Phase Two. He is introduced in Black Panther: Kingdoms at War as the ruler of Latveria and initially presents himself as a diplomat attempting to prevent international conflict.[9]
Doom appears or is referenced throughout the phase while collecting the materials required to construct a reality-altering machine. These include Wakandan vibranium, Kryptonian technology, a map of the Web of Life and Destiny, the Chronal Core, and energy from the Nightmare Realm.[2]
His plan culminates in Avengers: Incursion, in which he combines fragments of collapsing realities to create Doomworld. He becomes the principal antagonist of The Fantastic Four: Doomworld.[19][5]

Related media
Mob Productions released the documentary special Building Phase Two on its public Facebook page in June 2026. The special featured Goodwin and the directors of the phase discussing the development of the shared storyline and the decision to introduce Doom gradually rather than announce him as the central antagonist at the initial Phase Two presentation.[22]
Several short promotional videos titled Incursion Reports were planned for release between films. Presented as in-universe news broadcasts and government recordings, the videos document the increasing number of reality distortions across the MCU.[22]
