Production

Development

Production officially began on June 10, 2024 on the third season and concluded on March 12, 2025. In March 2024, Mob Productions renewed the series for a third season with a 10 episode order alongside a fourth season planned for a 2026 release. Jack Blacks contract was increased from 4 seasons to a total of 8 seasons, though the actor may choose to leave whenever they want.

According to Goodwin, the third season is the first season to be part of a "floating timeline" whilst the first two seasons remain part of the timeline. Talking about the events of the third season, Goodwin confirmed the main villain of the season would be part of all episodes unlike Malgazar, where he was part of only three episodes, and a new voice actor would be voicing the villain. Goodwin stated the villain will have a "big connection to Alex", and "in many ways" you wouldn't expect.

By November 2024, it was confirmed that Goodwin would depart the series after the third season and Zachary Bennett would replace him. It was confirmed the series would be MA15+ rating. Bennett confirmed that the fourth season would introduce the concept of the Multiverse into the series and will play a huge role within the story. He also said that it will be the "continuation of Tim Drake's story".

During development for the season, Bennett confirmed that the season wouldn't feature a "Main, Recurring, or Guest" approach, and instead would just feature two "lead" characters being Steve Stonecutter and Alex Stonecutter.
