C.O.D is an online video game and game platform developed by Ethan Morland and produced by Mob Productions. It is available in two distinct game mode versions that otherwise share general gameplay and game engine: COD: Clicker, a traditional incremental game inspired by Cookie Clicker; and COD: Survival Defense, a single-player survival driven tower defense game that incorperates tower defense mechanics on top of incremental gameplay.
Morland had originally only planned to release a single game with that being Clicker, though after completing the early stages of development, Morland chose to expand upon the mode much further, leading to complications. During the time fixing these problems, Morland came up with the idea to create a second incremental game into the first one and create a "Game Platform", similarly to how Fortnite releases their installments. Morland had already planned the platform prior to development, but didn't expect him to take on the idea as soon as he did.
Clicker and Survival Defense were both released on June 19, 2023.
Series and gameplay
Clicker (2023)
The main objective of Clicker is to click a button and progress through the game. Players will earn currency simply called "Money" by clicking the button. Using their money, they can purchase upgrades called "Click Upgrades". These upgrades allow players to progress faster and can earn a second currency "Gems", that can be used in other COD game modes. Unlike other incremental games, Clicker is a game you can generally fail at. Players have 5 minutes to earn enough to reach the second "Phase", and so on, every 5 minutes, players will need to reach a specific point in progression to continue. If the requirements aren't met, a player will fail the game and will need to restart.
Clicker features a custom "anti-cheat" system that prevents players from resorting to auto-clickers and doesn't feature any mechanic that gives score automatically.
Survival Defense (2023)
Survival Defense is the second game mode and features tower defense mechanics alongside incremental mechanics. Survival Defense is accessable through the COD: HQ.
Survival Defense features simple mechanics with clicker mechanics. Players must click a button to earn "eco", which then can be used to buy upgrades that then give the player a second currency simply called "Money". Players can use money to purchase "Towers", which will protect your lives from enemy bloons (which are from the Bloons Tower Defense franchise).
There are three classes of bloons in the game: regular, MOAB-class and Boss-class. The regular bloons consist of: red, blue, green, yellow, pink, black, white, lead, zebra, rainbow, purple, and ceramic bloons. MOAB-class bloons are in the shape of a blimp and consist of: the MOAB (Massive Ornary Air Blimp), the BFB (Brutal Flying Behemoth), the DDT (Dark Dirigible Titan), the ZOMG (Zeppelin Of Mighty Gargantuaness), and the BAD (Big Airship of Doom). Tougher variants of most bloon types contain a number of specified weaker ones. In later versions of the game, regular bloons possess sometimes special characteristics such as camo (which most towers cannot detect), regrowth (the ability for the bloons to slowly grow back to their original size), and fortified (which doubles the health of certain bloons), that resist certain tower types. With each level, the intensity of bloon waves proportionately increases.

Development and release
Development
Development on the game platform that was titled "COD: HQ" began in June 2014, after Cookie Clickers' popularity blew up in a matter of months. Mob Productions looked for development teams to make the game but were unsuccessful until Ethan Morland agreed to develop the project alone.
Development officially began that December and continued all the way until its release in 2023. The development process was extremely slow compared to any other game with the focus on quality of each area of the game.
The games use the Unity engine. Morland wanted to bring a system that rewarded players with additional XP if they played more than 30 minutes at a time, but ultimately decided to abandon the idea due balancing issues. During the development time, Morland began outlining post-launch updates and what he wants to do and made a huge focus on expansion.
Upon completing the base game in 2017, Morland wanted to build a complete progression system that included twenty prestiges and a way to reach a point of no limits. The "Prestige Master" system was introduced which allowed players to level up unlimited times upon completing the base 20 prestiges. Unlike traditional progression systems used in incremental games, Morland designed it so he set the "requiredXP" at a base requirement that could be manually adjusted, and to make it easier to create additional prestiges and levels, and stated he had already created over 2,000 levels of Prestige Master and plans to have over 20,000 done by the end of that year [2019]. In 2020, development had been stopped due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. During the pandemic lockdowns, Morland began planning new games to include as he had already planned that after the first game, new games will be added and the application will turned into a "platform of games".

Regarding the "multiple" games Morland has in various stages of development, he confirmed the next game will be coming in 2024 and will be a "step up" from past games and will be a racing-incremental mixture. He also announced he plans to release a new game once a year.
Potential sequels to games
In November 2023, there were multiple reports stating that Morland was planning on a second Survival Defense installment. Morland responded to the reports and stated he has plans to do that but a sequel isn't planned to be released until the first game has a feeling of being "a stage of complete", which is after a full roster of post-launch content. During March 2024, reports stated that once a sequel was released, the first version would be removed, Morland replied and stated that he has a plan to keep all games active unless otherwise stated.
Release
Clicker and Survival Defense was released on iOS, Android, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Windows, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on June 19, 2023.
Reception
COD: HQ was praised for its ambition at launch, though did recieve some backlash, mainly for being called "COD", something players think of being used for the Call of Duty franchise. The positive reviews praised the gameplay and the feeling that each part of the game felt complete.
