The Mob Unified Franchise (MUF) is an American shared universe and media franchise created and produced by Mob Productions. The MUF encompasses a series of original films and related media, all set within a single, interconnected continuity. The franchise is distinguished by its focus on new, original characters and ambitious worldbuilding, aiming to establish a modern mythology unique to Mob Productions.

Development

Background

On January 14, 2019, Mob Productions publicly announced plans to launch a new cinematic universe independent of any existing intellectual property. The initiative was revealed by company president Freddie Goodwin, who described the project as "a completely original, expansive universe of heroes, villains, and worlds," intended to provide a fresh alternative to established shared-universe franchises.[1]

Goodwin stated that the MUF would focus on innovative storytelling, with each film contributing to a larger, evolving narrative. No specific films or characters were revealed at the time of the announcement.

Part One film announcements

On August 8, 2019, Mob Productions officially announced the titles of the first two films of "Part One" of the Mob Unified Franchise: Duskbreakers and Sentinel Prime. Both are original concepts developed internally by the MUF creative team. No release dates, plot details, or casting information were provided at the time of announcement. According to president Freddie Goodwin, these films will introduce core characters and themes that will define the foundation of the MUF.[2]

Release date, director, and writer announcements

On November 21, 2019, Mob Productions confirmed that Duskbreakers would be released on July 16, 2021, directed by Ava Remington, written by Samuel Trask, and produced by Freddie Goodwin and Marissa Lane. Sentinel Prime was set for release on May 20, 2022, directed by Connor Blake, written by Jenna Wu, and produced by Freddie Goodwin and Travis King.[3]

Chapter One plans announced

On February 12, 2020, Freddie Goodwin announced a multi-part roadmap for the franchise’s future. Goodwin confirmed that "Part One" would consist of several films, and revealed that "Part Two" and "Part Three" were already in early development. Collectively, these three parts would make up what Mob Productions officially titled Chapter One of the Mob Unified Franchise.[4]
