The Fine Print 둘 (translated as "The Fine Print 2") is an upcoming American psychological thriller film directed by Sam Raimi and written by Ari Aster, Freddie Goodwin, Alex Brow, and Raimi. It is produced by Universal Pictures in association with Nightshade Studios and Monkeypaw Productions. Serving as a spiritual successor to 2027’s The Fine Print, the film introduces a new cast of characters navigating the psychological ruins left by the original’s events.

Although not a direct sequel, The Fine Print 둘 explores institutional decay and distorted memory from a new cultural lens. Raimi, known for his stylized horror and surreal storytelling, has confirmed that the use of the Korean number “둘” in the title is a significant clue to the film’s ultimate setting and thematic framing.

The film is scheduled to be released theatrically in the United States on June 19, 2036.

Premise

Years after the classified collapse of a multinational legal operation, a cryptic memorandum surfaces in Seoul — written in a forgotten dialect no one claims to understand. Solomon Keene, a hardened corporate fixer, is sent to investigate. As his team uncovers the buried mechanisms of a system built to erase accountability itself, reality begins to twist. Language breaks down, timelines fracture, and an unseen force pushes back.

Production

Development

Following the box office and critical success of the original film, which grossed $897 million worldwide, Universal Pictures began planning a successor project in early 2033. After a failed attempt at a direct sequel, the project was quietly reshaped into a reimagining with thematic continuity rather than narrative continuation.

Sam Raimi was officially announced as the film’s director in September 2033. He joined the project with the goal of taking the franchise into darker, more surreal territory. The screenplay was co-written by Ari Aster, returning from the first film, along with British screenwriter Freddie Goodwin, creator Alex Brow, and Raimi himself. Aster, though committed to another directorial project, stated his involvement was out of “deep respect” for the original film’s psychological legacy.

The film’s title — using the Korean numeral for “2” — was chosen deliberately. In a February 2034 interview, Raimi confirmed that this was “no aesthetic gimmick,” and that the choice strongly hints at the film’s geographical and thematic setting.

Casting

In March 2034, Aldis Hodge was announced as the lead, portraying Solomon Keene, a multilingual corporate fixer with a murky past and fragile psyche. He is joined by Natalie Dormer, Brian Tyree Henry, Pom Klementieff, and Barry Keoghan in undisclosed roles. The ensemble has been described as “morally ambiguous, psychologically scarred, and brutally intertwined.”

Filming

Principal photography is officially set to begin on September 2, 2034, with international shooting planned across South Korea and Eastern Europe. Raimi reportedly aims for a “dreamlike cross-continental visual language,” combining corporate minimalism with decaying urban liminality.

Marketing

In July 2033, the film’s teaser poster was revealed online, featuring a crimson Korean “둘” suspended in a darkened hallway with disarrayed documents and a distant silhouette. The poster went viral on social media platforms and film forums, sparking theories about the setting and symbolic use of language.

Universal has remained tight-lipped since the teaser drop, but early hints suggest a more aggressive marketing campaign will roll out in mid-2035, including viral websites, legal-themed puzzles, and ARG-style teaser events.
