The Minecraft Universe (TMU) is an upcoming Australian multimedia franchise and shared universe of films. It was conceived and created, written, and produced by Alex Brow. The plot centers around the characters from the video game Minecraft (2011).

The franchise's first installment will be Agent Derp, is scheduled to be released on June 2025.

Development

Since there will be no filming of each project, the "Director" will overlook each script and decide what is good and what might need changing. It was pubically announced that the exact release date of Agent Derp would be announced on May 21, 2024, with the other four films to follow in early June 2024.

Agent Derp (2024)

In June 2020, a film based on the character Derp from Squared Media was announced to be in development by Alex Brow. The script was written by Brow and will combine elements from various superhero films, whilst being strictly a "horror film which is driven by comedy". A report article in May 2024, part of Brow's efforts to announce future projects, stated the film wasn't being worked on during 2021–2023, though would be picked up once again.

The film is scheduled to be released in 2025.

Steve's Wonder Land of Adventure (2026)

In May 2024, a film based on the Squared Media character Steve Stonecutter was in development, with a heavy focus on his backstory and building the universe.

The Knightingale (2027)

A film based on Alex Stonecutter was announced in May 2024.

Minecraft the Nether Wars (2029)

In May 2024, it was announced that the franchise would lead into the cross-over film titled "Minecraft the Nether Wars", which is planned to be released in 2029. Brow confirmed he will be writing and directing the film by himself. He confirmed the film would see all the characters from every film released before it.

In March 2024, the culmination of the franchise in the form of a cross-over film was announced with the official title of Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble. The plot will reportedly include characters from each of the preceding installments, as the murderous versions of characters from childhood' fairytales team-up to hunt down the individual survivors of their massacres and seek to destroy the world in the process. The team of nightmarish monsters will include returning characters Winnie-the-Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Owl, Bambi, Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, and Pinocchio; while also introducing Rabbit, Sleeping Beauty, and the Mad Hatter to the group. Rhys Frake-Waterfield will serve as director, in addition to producing alongside Scott Jeffrey, and Scott Chambers. The movie is slated to release in 2025.

Other potential projects

Brow pubically confirmed that there would be more films than the ones that have already been announced, whilst hinting at more each year.
