The third season of the American animated television series Minecraft will release on Netflix in 2026. The series is based on the video game of the same name and adapts characters created by Squared Media. It is set in the Craftinverse, sharing continuity with the other television series of the universe. The season is produced by Mob Productions, Mojang and Warner Bros. Pictures. Freddie Goodwin serves as showrunner for the season.
The series stars Jack Black and Amy Poehler as the lead characters, Steve Stonecutter and his best friend Alex Stonecutter. Also returning are main cast members Tom Holland, Jason Momoa, James Earl Jones, and Danielle Brooks.
The third season was ordered in June 2024. The season will release in 2026.

Production
Development
In September 2022, Mob Productions renewed the series for a second season with a 10 episode order. The following month, Zendaya left the project due to personal reasons. The season was originally planned to release in 2023, but was delayed due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike.
Casting
Shortly after the second season was renewed, Zendaya left the project. Amy Poehler replaced her for the role of Alex Stonecutter. Previous stars Jack Black, Tom Holland, Jason Momoa, James Earl Jones, and Danielle Brooks.
Photorealistic animation
Unlike other animation, Goodwin wanted to use photorealistic animation for Minecraft. They kept the 3D dimension blocked shapes of the game to keep the feeling of the game theme. However, they weren't strict on what they can add and do within the universe.
Music
In order to keep the theme and music for the series as close to the video game, Goodwin approached C418, Lena Raine, Kumi Tanioka, and Aaron Cherof to make the score for the series.
Marketing
The third season was ordered in June 2024.
