Production
Background
Only two years after the conclusion to development on the comics in 2014, Goodwin began to write a film based on the comics, however abandoned the concept shortly after due to creative differences with his team. In 2016, SOI Studios began working on a film based off the team of the same name from the comics and finished the script in June 2017, however the project had to be abandoned due to budget cuts from producer companies and a lack of a director. SOI Studios blamed the lack of respect from Mob Productions in giving rights and budget to them to make the film. SOI Studios stated if they continued with the project, the film would've had a budget of $20 million which would've never worked. Soon after, Goodwin announced they had no plans to produce or budget a film based on the Harbingers at that time.
Months following the two companies merging, Goodwin announced that the studio had looked into making more films based off Mob Comics and in 2022, began work on three films based off the team Harbingers. Goodwin officially announced the three films in July 2023 with Harbingers: Endgame planned to be released on June 20, 2025.
Development
During a interview in 2021, Goodwin expressed interests in making more than a dozen films and revealed he had planned up to 2027. After SOI Studios merged with Mob Productions, Goodwin created a plan that lasted until 2025, which films would release monthly beginning in February 2024. He announced that three films based on the comic team Harbingers was in development and stated the third one would be released in 2025. Goodwin began writing the film in 2023 after he completed writing Deadpool (2024).
Goodwin confirmed that all the films that release before it will have a part towards it as this is a crossover film that intends to include every hero from the films released prior, events will play out as planned, and will conclude a saga that began with the first film.
During a 2023 development presentation, Goodwin confirmed that the film would be around two and a half hours in length. He announced that the script is already finished and they are working on making adjustments before they begin filming.
Casting
It was confirmed that Ryan Reynolds would reprise his role as Wade Wilson/Deadpool in the film in October 2023. In December 2023, it was confirmed that Grant Gustin would appear as Barry Allen/Flash. Dev Patel, Idris Elba, Timothée Chalamet, and Zendaya will reprise their roles of Alex Singh, Wells Smith, Christopher Styles, and Nova Smiles, respectively.
Filming
Principal photography is scheduled to begin in June 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia, under the working title Endgame which is a reference to the Marvel Studios film Avengers: Endgame (2019). Freddie Goodwin will work alongside his brother, Jeff Goodwin as the cinematographer. Filming is expected to conclude in September 2024. Filming is also expected to occur in Emery County and Grand County, Utah.
Post-production
Harry Yoon and Angela M. Catanzaro serve as editors on the film.
