The International Darts Federation (IDF) is a professional darts governing body established in 2005 to oversee and develop the sport globally, particularly outside the traditional UK-centric organizations. The IDF organizes a series of professional darts tournaments, including the flagship annual IDF World Championship, the Premier League, World Grand Prix, and various tour and normal ranking events. The federation maintains a comprehensive world ranking system known as the Order of Merit, which ranks players based on their performances in sanctioned events throughout the season.
History
Darts, while having a strong professional presence in the United Kingdom through organizations like the PDC and BDO, saw a need for an internationally focused body to grow the sport worldwide. The IDF launched its first World Championship in 2006, rapidly becoming a significant event attracting top talent globally.
