The Fine Print 3 is an upcoming American psychological thriller film directed by Ari Aster, who co-wrote the screenplay with Alex Brow, the creator of the series. It serves as the third installment in the Fine Print series and is positioned as a direct sequel to the original 2027 film The Fine Print, while narratively preceding the events of The Fine Print 둘 (2036).

The film brings back original cast members Teyonah Parris, Jesse Plemons, and Mia Goth and is expected to explore the psychological aftermath of the original Virecon collapse, offering revelations that reframe both previous entries. It is being produced by Universal Pictures in partnership with Nightshade Studios and Monkeypaw Productions.

Premise

Set shortly after the events of The Fine Print (2027), the story follows survivors of the Virecon whistleblower scandal as they navigate a legal reality still haunted by residual effects of the original contract manipulation. As fractures in perception widen, deeper truths emerge — hinting that the collapse of Virecon was merely the first signed clause in a much larger design.

Production

The project was officially greenlit by Universal Pictures in September 2036, following the release of The Fine Print 둘. While the second film received a mixed-to-positive reception, it generated enough critical momentum and financial return to justify continuing the franchise.

Ari Aster was announced as director and co-writer, returning to the helm after serving as screenwriter on the second film and director of the first. Alex Brow serves as producer and co-writer. The film will mark a tonal return to the intimate, paranoid atmosphere of the original, focusing more on psychological decay than linguistic surrealism.

Development

Unlike its predecessor, which introduced a new cast and setting, The Fine Print 3 revisits core characters from the original film and bridges narrative gaps between entries. Aster has described the film as “a reclamation of buried truth” and has stated that the title “3” refers not only to chronology but also to a triplicate form of selfhood explored in the plot.
