| Since Lord Nebotus’s reign during the Corrupted Era, Hell had been jointly governed by The Inheritor and Kaih the Sunmelter, who were installed as proxy rulers before Nebotus’s downfall. Addressing the denizens of the Underworld, The Inheritor recalls the Peak of Conciliation Treaty, an ancient pact between Hell and the Celestial Paradise meant to preserve the balance of good and evil souls, marked by two flasks left on the peak—one of divine Ambrosia, the other of hellfire. He reveals that he has scaled the peak and stolen the Ambrosia, consuming it to ascend into Lord Inheritor, before defeating Kaih the Sunmelter in combat and claiming sole dominion over Hell. Declaring his intent to tilt the balance of the afterlives, Lord Inheritor journeys to Petra, where he uses Ambrosia to transform General Darmith into Darmith Khan, commanding him to spread chaos and war. With his ambitions growing, Lord Inheritor storms the gates of Paradise, where Warmaster Elvira warns him of the war he is unleashing; he accepts the cost, driving the Angels from Paradise and casting them into the mortal realm. In the aftermath, Kaih the Sunmelter seeks out Barbatos, the former master of Hell, and, recounting Inheritor’s usurpation, frees him from captivity, believing only Barbatos has the knowledge and strength to challenge the new ruler’s dominion.

| Empowered by Ambrosia, Darmith Khan forges a brutal new coalition, uniting his Fire troops with the orcs and the Aztec empire into a single Barbarian army that sweeps down from the mountains, razing and pillaging villages in their path. When Armole and Noahrian spot the horde descending toward the Village of Adventurers, they ready themselves to defend, but the Barbarians overwhelm the settlement, leaving it in ruins. Amidst the chaos, Darmith Khan’s Bodyguard points out one figure who does not flee—Pure Pandalf, standing calmly at the village center. Intrigued, Darmith Khan engages him directly in battle. Later, at the Magic Council headquarters, Pure Pandalf recounts Darmith Khan’s transformation to Warmaster Sherezar, who questions how such power could have been attained. Their discussion is interrupted by the arrival of Warmaster Elvira, who reveals the grim truth of Lord Inheritor’s usurpation of Hell and the shattering of the ancient treaty with Paradise.
