Moments later, a shots-fired call sends them to a nearby construction site already in chaos, with Holt coordinating officers amid fleeing workers and distant gunfire. While taking cover, Kai hears someone crying and finds a wounded teenage boy hiding behind concrete slabs. Despite his shaking hands, Kai calmly reassures the boy and applies pressure to the injury until paramedics arrive, earning quiet approval from Holt and Alvarez for not freezing under pressure. Later, back at the station, Holt pointedly tells Kai that the day was easy, underscoring the dangers still ahead.
