Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is an upcoming first-person shooter game co-developed by Treyarch and Raven Software and published by Activision. It is the twenty-second installment of the Call of Duty series and is the eighth main entry in the Black Ops sub-series, following Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (2024). Set in 2035, Black Ops 7's story—playable in single-player or co-op—will follow a team of agents led by David Mason in the aftermath of Call of Duty: Black Ops II (2012). As with previous Call of Duty titles, the game will also include a multiplayer component and the cooperative round-based Zombies mode. Black Ops 7 is scheduled for release in 2025, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Gameplay and premise

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be a first-person shooter, featuring a single-player/co-op campaign, a multiplayer component and the cooperative round-based Zombies mode. Set in 2035—ten years after the events of Call of Duty: Black Ops II (2012)—the campaign is expected to follow Black Ops II protagonist David Mason (Milo Ventimiglia) and his team of agents as they pursue "a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else."

Development

Black Ops 7 is being co-developed by Treyarch and Raven Software. Initial details surrounding the game began to surface in late 2023, when Insider Gaming reported that the title would be a follow-up to Black Ops II set in the aftermath of the death of that title's main antagonist, Raul Menendez. Further details about Black Ops 7, including the 2035 setting, the co-op campaign, and the Zombies mode, were shared in April 2025 by an individual who reportedly attended a study group test meeting for the game.

Marketing

Activision and Microsoft officially debuted the first trailer for Black Ops 7 during the 2025 Xbox Games Showcase event on June 8, and revealed the game's title and story premise. On the same day, Variety shared initial details about the game's cast, including Milo Ventimiglia's casting as David Mason and Kiernan Shipka's casting as Emma Kagan—the CEO of an organization called "The Guild"; Michael Rooker is also set to reprise his role as Mike Harper, a supporting character from Black Ops II.

Release

Black Ops 7 is scheduled for release in 2025, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It will be made available to subscribers of select Xbox Game Pass plans on release day, including Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
