The Fine Print 3 is an upcoming American psychological thriller film directed by Ari Aster, who co-wrote the screenplay alongside series creator Alex Brow. Produced by Nightshade Studios and Monkeypaw Productions, the film serves as the third installment in the Fine Print franchise and is set chronologically between the events of The Fine Print (2027) and The Fine Print 둘 (2036).
Aldis Hodge returns as Solomon Keene, reprising his role from the second film after initially expressing doubts about continuing with the series. Joining him are original cast members Teyonah Parris, Jesse Plemons, and Mia Goth, all returning as their respective characters from the first installment. New cast additions include Florence Pugh, David Dastmalchian, Mahershala Ali, Stephanie Hsu, and Rory Kinnear.
The Fine Print 3 is scheduled for theatrical release in the United States on October 7, 2038, distributed by Universal Pictures.
Premise
Set in the year following the Virecon collapse, the story delves into the early origins of Solomon Keene’s descent into the Archive’s influence. As global regulators dismantle remnants of cognitive-contract infrastructures, Keene is recruited into a covert international task force. Their mission: trace the source of recursive memorandums that are infecting public records, memories, and language.
Meanwhile, buried agents and power brokers from both government and corporate entities race to rewrite the past—before it can be fully decoded.

Production
Following the divisive box office performance of The Fine Print 둘, Universal Pictures initially hesitated to greenlight a third installment. However, critical acclaim, strong home release figures, and a rapidly growing cult following revitalized interest in the franchise. In early 2037, the studio officially announced a midquel project to bridge narrative gaps between the first two films.
Ari Aster returned to direct and co-write, marking his first directorial outing in the franchise. Partnering again with series creator Alex Brow, the two sought to revisit early developmental notes from the original film’s planning stages. Aster described the new script as “a metaphysical autopsy of memory, consent, and control,” with themes centered around legal language as psychological weaponry.
Despite previous public hesitation, Aldis Hodge agreed to return as Solomon Keene after a substantial $30 million compensation deal and assurances of a more emotionally resonant arc for his character. His return helped solidify the film’s positioning as a pivotal chapter in the series’ timeline.
Filming commenced in April 2037, taking place across multiple international locations including Atlanta, Seoul, and various decommissioned intelligence facilities in Eastern Europe. While no official confirmation has been made regarding the cinematographer, industry sources suggest that Jarin Blaschke—who shot the previous entry—may return.
In August 2038, multiple trade outlets reported that Daniel Kaluuya was in talks to reprise his role as Aaron Wells from the first film. Although Universal has not confirmed his involvement, sources close to the production claim that Kaluuya was spotted on set during reshoots in Prague. The character of Wells was last seen in the original film surviving a memory collapse event, and fans have speculated his return may tie directly into Solomon Keene's earlier investigations.
Release
The Fine Print 3 is scheduled to be released theatrically in the United States on October 7, 2038, by Universal Pictures. A limited premiere is expected to take place at a major international film festival in September 2038, ahead of its wide release.
