Silver Surfer is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Silver Surfer. Produced by Mob Studios, it is intended to be part of the Mob Cinematic Universe (MCU), set after the events of The Fantastic Four (2024) and preceding The Fantastic Four: Doomworld (2027). The film explores the transformation of Zenn-La's scientist Norrin Radd into the Silver Surfer, herald of Galactus, and follows his internal struggle as he confronts the moral consequences of his servitude. It is scheduled for release on July 3, 2026.
Premise[edit | edit source]
Set in the aftermath of The Fantastic Four, the film chronicles the origin of Norrin Radd, a brilliant physicist from the utopian planet Zenn-La, who makes a grave bargain with Galactus to spare his people. Transformed into the Silver Surfer, Radd becomes a herald of destruction — until his journey to Earth and encounters with humanity lead him to question his loyalty and rebel against his cosmic master. The film expands the cosmic mythology of the MCU, establishing core elements of the Power Cosmic and the hierarchy of universal entities.

Development[edit | edit source]
Following the success of Doctor Doom in early 2025, Mob Studios greenlit a slate of cosmic-focused projects that would build upon the narrative foundation of The Fantastic Four. Among them was Silver Surfer, formally announced in March 2025 during a post-slate investor call by producers Freddie Goodwin and Marcus V. Lane. The film was described as a “cosmic parable about duty, sacrifice, and awakening,” intended to serve as a spiritual epilogue to the Doom saga while establishing the Mob Universe’s greater galactic mythology.
The script was described as blending introspective sci-fi with operatic action, with early drafts focused heavily on Radd’s internal descent and his growing moral unease. Casting for the lead role reportedly emphasized a “stoic but sympathetic” screen presence, with Jacob Elordi confirmed in June 2025 after extensive screen tests. Ralph Ineson, known for his commanding voice and gravitas, was later cast as Galactus. Mob Studios confirmed that the film would introduce the Power Cosmic and multiple new alien civilizations.
Filming[edit | edit source]
Principal photography is expected to begin in late 2025, primarily in Iceland, Morocco, and at Trilith Studios in Atlanta. The working title is Project Zenith. Visual effects planning has already begun, with the Surfer’s look expected to combine practical body rigging with high-detail motion capture. Mob Studios also confirmed that the planet Zenn-La would be brought to life using a mixture of on-location desert photography and expansive set builds, designed to evoke a utopian yet sterile alien society.
Release[edit | edit source]
Silver Surfer is scheduled for theatrical release on July 3, 2026, as part of Chapter Two of the Mob Cinematic Universe.
