Spider-Verse: Miles is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Miles Morales. Produced by Mob Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film is part of the Mob Cinematic Universe (MCU) and serves as the first installment in a planned trilogy centered around Miles. Caleb McLaughlin stars in the title role, alongside Zendaya, Giancarlo Esposito, Storm Reid, Mason Thames, and Teyonah Parris. The film is scheduled to be released on December 15, 2028.
Premise
Miles Morales, a Brooklyn teenager with a genius intellect and artistic spirit, is thrust into a multidimensional conflict when he discovers that his universe is one of many threatened by instability in the web of reality. As new threats emerge from across the Spider-Verse, Miles must step into the shoes of a true Spider-Man—not just to save his world, but all of them.

Production
Development
Following the success of the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse franchise and the conclusion of the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man trilogy, Mob Studios began exploring ways to introduce Miles Morales into their live-action continuity. Talks began as early as mid-2024, but the project was not formally announced until a December 2024 slate reveal hosted by Mob Studios heads Freddie Goodwin and Marcus V. Lane. During the event, Spider-Verse: Miles was described as a “grounded multiversal character journey,” anchoring Chapter Two’s evolving Spider-narrative.
In early 2025, casting sessions prioritized authenticity and agility. Caleb McLaughlin quickly rose to the top of the shortlist for his strong screen presence and natural emotional resonance. Later casting included Storm Reid as a new Gwen Stacy variant, Mason Thames as a radically different Peter Parker, and Giancarlo Esposito in a cryptic narratorial role. Reports indicate that Mob Studios coordinated lightly with Marvel CU to ensure respectful use of multiverse concepts without overlapping narrative obligations.
The script is written by an uncredited contributor to Ascendants, and leans heavily into Miles’s arrival in Earth-Mob1, the Mob Cinematic Universe’s prime timeline. Thematically, the film is framed around the idea of “fractured identity,” as Miles meets alternate Spider-variants that reflect the paths he might have taken.
Filming
Principal photography is expected to begin in late 2025 or early 2026 under the working title Brooklyn Pulse. Location shooting will occur primarily in New York City to maintain Miles’s urban authenticity, while more complex VFX sequences will be handled at Trilith Studios in Atlanta.
Mob Studios has revealed that several scenes will experiment with mixed media and animation-to-live-action transitions to reflect unstable dimensional overlaps. Early previs suggests elements such as kinetic text overlays and color saturation modulation, inspired by Into the Spider-Verse but grounded in photorealism.
A director has not been officially attached as of July 2025, though studio insiders suggest negotiations are underway with filmmakers experienced in sci-fi and teen drama fusion. The announcement is expected before Q4 2025.

Spider-Verse: Miles is scheduled for release in the United States on December 15, 2028, as a central entry in Chapter Two of the Mob Cinematic Universe.
