Battlefield: Dominion is a 2025 first-person shooter developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts. Battlefield: Dominion emphasizes large-scale combined-arms combat, with player-driven tactics and emergent gameplay forming the foundation of each match. The class-based system returns with Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon roles, each having two selectable Field Specialties that change their playstyle without removing class identity. Specialties range from faster revive speeds to drone deployment or advanced anti-air systems.
Player movement builds on previous entries, including sprinting, tactical sprint, sliding, diving, ledge grabbing, and vaulting with weapon readiness maintained. A "Combat Brace" stance enables reduced recoil and sway when bracing on surfaces. The Adaptive Loadout system allows players to swap attachments, gadgets, and ammunition types at Field Stations mid-match.
The destruction model has been upgraded to a Progressive Damage Model, allowing buildings to collapse in stages depending on localized and cumulative damage. Weather events such as sandstorms, blizzards, and typhoons affect visibility, ballistics, and movement, while some maps feature mid-match flooding that changes available routes.

Gunplay incorporates a hybrid ballistic system with bullet drop, wind effects, and caliber-specific velocities. Suppressors reduce detection but shorten effective range. Recoil is pattern-based, with a Weapon Familiarity mechanic rewarding consistent use with performance bonuses.

Set in the year 2032, Battlefield: Dominion depicts a fictional conflict between the Pan-Global Coalition (PGC), a multinational alliance formed to safeguard trade routes and energy infrastructure, and the Sovereign Defense Front (SDF), a breakaway military bloc seeking to dominate critical global chokepoints.
The campaign unfolds across multiple interconnected theaters. Players assume the roles of four soldiers from different nations and military branches: Sergeant First Class Nathan Cole, a U.S. Army Ranger embedded with a coalition rapid response team; Corporal Erik Lund, a Swedish combat engineer tasked with sabotage operations in the Arctic; Lieutenant Sofia Alvarez, a Spanish naval officer operating in the Mediterranean; and Corporal Tariq Haddad, a Jordanian recon specialist navigating desert conflict zones.
The story begins with surprise SDF strikes on coalition outposts in the South China Sea, escalating into a series of retaliatory operations. Missions range from urban warfare in collapsing megacities to high-altitude assaults on fortified mountain passes, stealth insertions into oil-rich archipelagos, and combined arms offensives against entrenched SDF strongholds.
The climax takes place in a massive amphibious assault on the SDF’s central command island, where all four protagonists’ storylines converge. The final mission combines infantry pushes, armor breakthroughs, and naval fire support, culminating in the disabling of the SDF’s command-and-control network.

Pre-production began in January 2023, focusing on lessons learned from both Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V, as well as community feedback from prior titles. The Frostbite engine was upgraded to version 5 to handle larger player counts, more complex destruction, and advanced environmental simulations.
The project was codenamed "Project Dominion" internally and aimed to re-establish the franchise’s identity as the premier large-scale military sandbox. DICE expanded its level design and audio teams, while EA Vancouver and Criterion Games provided vehicle mechanics support.
Battlefield: Dominion was revealed on June 9, 2024, during the EA Play Showcase, featuring an in-engine cinematic trailer and gameplay segments from both Conquest and Dominion Operations. Closed alpha testing began in March 2025 with select community members, followed by a public open beta in September 2025, which included two multiplayer maps and limited vehicle types. Feedback from the beta led to refinements in recoil handling, vehicle armor values, and weather event frequency.
