Shockpoint is an upcoming first-person shooter game developed and published by SOI Studios. It is the studio’s first original franchise outside of ShooterofIO and Dark Warfare. The game is set during a near-future global collapse where corporations rise in place of governments, and combat unfolds across destructible megacities and shifting battlefields.[3][1][4][5]
The project has been described by SOI Studios as its most ambitious title to date, featuring a Dynamic Engagement System that reshapes maps in real time. Players will fight across a campaign spanning multiple continents, a competitive multiplayer suite with era-fluid weaponry, and a hybrid Survival Arena that merges PvE escalation with live PvP invasions.[4][6]
Shockpoint is scheduled for release worldwide on October 18, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows. Pre-orders include beta access and exclusive cosmetic rewards, with multiple editions available.[2][7]
Gameplay
Shockpoint is a first-person shooter.[3] Depending on the game mode selected, players use a selection of military equipment, such as weapons, "field upgrades", and squad abilities, to combat AI opponents, other human players, or hybrid PvPvE threats.[1][4] Players can perform a wide variety of movement actions when traversing a level/map, including walking, crouching, sprinting, sliding, wall-kicking, grappling, vault-sliding, and diving. They can also rotate in a full 360-degree view while prone.[3] In addition, the game introduces a "Dynamic Engagement System", where maps shift in real time as battles escalate: bridges collapse, buildings crumble, and choke points open or close depending on how players fight.[3][4]
Shockpoint features three main game modes: a single-player campaign, a multiplayer component and the cooperative "Survival Arena".[1][4] In the campaign, players assume control of a protagonist fighting through a fractured near-future world where nations collapse and corporations rise in their place. Missions incorporate destructible environments, branching objectives, and adaptive squad mechanics that allow allies to reposition and improvise under fire.[4] The campaign narrative spans multiple continents, culminating in a global-scale finale teased during the reveal event.[4] Certain missions will also reward players with cosmetic items for use in the multiplayer and Survival Arena modes.[1]
The multiplayer component emphasizes verticality, destruction, and tactical variety through an "Era-Fluid Arsenal", combining weapons from across different decades and technologies.[4] Maps include Iron Divide, Neon Fault, Sandspire, and Crown’s End, each incorporating dynamic hazards such as collapsing cranes, sandstorms, and destructible towers.[4][6][8] Modes range from traditional six-on-six battles to larger objective-driven skirmishes. Confirmed modes include Conflict, Siege Breaker, Extraction War, and Arena Survival, the latter merging PvE waves with PvP objectives.[6][8] Performance is tracked with experience points (XP), which are earned through kills, objectives, and challenges, and allow players to unlock weapons, perks, and attachments.[1] A prestige system with ten ranks provides additional rewards, culminating in lore-based cosmetics and progression milestones.[6] A new "Overload" mechanic grants enhanced effects to lethal and tactical equipment once thresholds are met.[1]
In Survival Arena, one to four players face escalating waves of AI-controlled enemies while rival squads can invade to disrupt their progress.[4] The mode includes randomized modifiers that alter enemy behavior and player loadouts, as well as shared extraction zones that force brutal endgame standoffs between squads.[4][6] Players manage resources to fortify positions, unlock destructible pathways, and upgrade their squad loadouts.[9] Beta progression unlocks, including cosmetic rewards such as the “Shattered Crown” charm and “Chaos” operator skin, carry over to launch.[8] The full reveal of Survival Arena, scheduled for September 16, 2026, is expected to detail wave escalation, PvP invasions, extraction mechanics, and progression systems.[10]
Premise
Campaign
Set in a fractured near-future where nations collapse and corporations rise in their place, Shockpoint'ss campaign follows players across neon skylines, megacities, and collapsing battlefields. Missions are designed to be cinematic yet unpredictable, incorporating the Dynamic Engagement System, destructible environments, and branching objectives that alter squad tactics in real time.[4] Players will control a protagonist embedded in a Joint Task Force navigating both global conflict and corporate warfare, culminating in a climactic finale teased during the Worldwide Reveal.[4]
Characters
Commander Elias Ward is a veteran special operations officer reluctantly pulled back into service during the global collapse. Described as the “anchor” of the narrative, Ward struggles with the weight of past missions while leading a squad into uncertain territory.[5] Nyra Kale is a rogue covert operative specializing in infiltration and sabotage. Her loyalties are unclear, and her brutal methods leave her role as ally or adversary in question.[5] Rafe Mendoza is a battlefield engineer and technician who improvises weapons and systems under fire. Seen as the “heart of the squad,” Mendoza’s optimism clashes with the grim realities of war.[5] Kara Volkov serves as one of the central antagonists, a corporate enforcer who embodies the philosophy of control through fear and wields near-future technology to maintain power.[5] Adrian Locke is a revolutionary figure and “phantom of the streets” whose actions inspire urban militias. His presence is ambiguous, operating as either a symbol of hope or a source of deeper chaos.[5] The campaign narrative emphasizes character-driven stakes, with interactions between squadmates and adversaries shaping the outcome of missions and the broader conflict.[5]
Development
Shockpoint is developed by SOI Studios, who previously created the ShooterofIO and Dark Warfare franchises. General Manager Daniel Cross described the project as “a franchise that feels both grounded and chaotic — a game where tension is built into every bullet, every building, every second.”[1] Narrative director Helena Cruz stated that the campaign was designed to feel “cinematic but unpredictable”, with branching missions shaped by destruction and player choice.[4] Lead gameplay designer Marcus Vey emphasized that the Survival Arena was designed to maximize player tension by allowing live squads to invade PvE matches.[4] The studio has positioned the game as a long-term "cornerstone" franchise built to evolve after launch.[3]
Marketing
Shockpoint was announced on September 22, 2025, with a teaser trailer showcasing neon-drenched cityscapes, collapsing towers, and firefights spilling from rooftops into tunnels. The teaser introduced the tagline: "Every second is the point of no return."[3] A worldwide reveal event took place on October 15, 2025, where SOI Studios showcased extended campaign gameplay, multiplayer maps, and Survival Arena details.[4] During the event, Sofia Niven, SOI’s Head of Global Marketing, described the project as "the most ambitious in the studio’s history."[4] The following week, a companion blog post introduced the campaign’s lead characters, including Commander Elias Ward, Nyra Kale, Rafe Mendoza, Kara Volkov, and Adrian Locke.[5]
In January 2026, SOI confirmed that Shockpoint would launch on October 18, 2026. The announcement was accompanied by details for the game’s multiplayer beta, which would take place in two stages: a closed beta from August 14 to August 19, 2026, exclusive to pre-orders, and an open beta from September 4 to September 10, 2026.[2] Both betas feature four multiplayer maps, including the previously revealed Iron Divide and Neon Fault, as well as core competitive modes such as Team Conflict, Control, and Demolition. Players also gain early access to Survival Arena, testing its PvE escalation and live PvP invasion systems. SOI confirmed that feedback from both phases would be used to fine-tune pacing, balance, and destruction mechanics in the final release.[2]
In March 2026, the studio revealed the game’s editions. The Standard Edition includes the base game, access to both beta phases, and a pre-order bonus containing the Crownfire weapon blueprint and “First to Fall” emblem. The Deluxe Edition adds five days of early campaign access beginning October 13, 2026, along with a themed Shockwave Operator Pack, a Neon Fault Gear Bundle, and a Season Battle Pass with 25 tier skips. The Ultimate Edition expands on this with the “King’s Reign” cosmetic set, the Founders’ Vault of reimagined legacy weapons, two additional seasonal passes covering Seasons 1 and 2, and a digital soundtrack and art pack.[7]
In February 2026, SOI launched a transmedia campaign with the introduction of Shockpoint Cores. These limited-edition physical collectibles, distributed through global retailers, specialty gaming shops, and pop-up installations, contain QR codes linking to new campaign and multiplayer intel, exclusive cosmetics, lore fragments, and metallic hardware tokens engraved with crown symbols.[11] The studio encouraged fans to share their discoveries using the #ShockpointCore hashtag, with community collaboration unlocking larger lore drops. Daniel Cross described the Cores as “pieces of the world, bleeding into reality, daring players to uncover the future before it arrives.”[11]
On July 20, 2026, SOI Studios hosted the Shockpoint Multiplayer Deep Dive, which revealed the full scope of the game’s sandbox.[6] New maps showcased included Crown’s End, a large downtown district featuring destructible towers. Game modes confirmed at the event included Conflict, Siege Breaker, Extraction War, and Arena Survival, each emphasizing destruction, shifting objectives, and PvE–PvP integration. The same day, a System Deep Dive detailed progression systems, including a streamlined unlock path, the return of Prestige with ten ranks, cross-mode seasonal leveling, and customization options spanning HUD presets and operator skins. Technical innovations such as real-time destruction optimized for next-gen hardware, crossplay across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and support for 120Hz performance modes with ray-traced lighting on PC were also confirmed.[6]
In August 2026, a gameplay guide titled "Welcome to Shockpoint Gameplay" was released ahead of the beta.[9] The guide outlined the fundamentals of the multiplayer experience, including the flow of insertion, objective-based combat, and squad-based asymmetry. It highlighted maps such as Iron Divide, Neon Fault, and Sandspire, described the role of engineers, operatives, and assault players in squad play, and emphasized vertical mobility through grapples, vault-slides, and wall-kicks. The guide also reiterated customization systems, from cross-era loadouts to HUD presets and operator cosmetics, while teasing that the full Survival Arena gameplay reveal would arrive on September 1, 2026.[9]
On September 4, 2026, SOI Studios launched the Open Beta for all players.[8] The beta included four maps — Iron Divide, Neon Fault, Sandspire, and Crown’s End — and modes including Conflict, Siege Breaker, Extraction War, and a Survival Arena preview. Exclusive cosmetic rewards such as the “Beta Veteran” emblem, “Shattered Crown” charm, and “Chaos” operator skin were awarded for participation and progression. Daniel Cross described the Open Beta as “where the community gets to truly test the systems we’ve built,” emphasizing that feedback would help refine the launch experience.[8]
Following the end of the Beta, SOI released a community recap on September 11, 2026.[10] The studio thanked players for millions of matches played and confirmed that feedback had already influenced destruction pacing, movement flow, and weapon balance. The announcement also revealed that a full presentation dedicated to Survival Arena would take place on September 16, 2026, highlighting wave escalation, PvP invasions, extraction standoffs, and rewards. Marcus Vey emphasized that the Beta was only “a taste,” while Daniel Cross described launch as “the beginning of a new era for shooters.”[10]
