ShooterofIO: Wargrounds 2.0 is an upcoming free-to-play first-person shooter game developed by SOI Studios and published by Mob Productions for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. It is a successor to 2023's ShooterofIO: Wargrounds and will be a component of ShooterofIO: Modern Ops 2 (2025), but won't require purchase of the parent title.
Development of the game began in April 2024, following the cancellation of the original version by Mob Productions. The project was restarted as a new edition designed to allow easier integration with other titles in the franchise. Wargrounds 2.0 is scheduled for release on November 22, 2025.
Gameplay
ShooterofIO: Wargrounds 2.0 is an open-world player versus environment (PvE) game that serves as a successor to the mode first introduced in ShooterofIO 1: Modern Ops (2023). Its structure is comparable to the DMZ mode from Call of Duty: Warzone (2022).
The game integrates with premium ShooterofIO titles, beginning with ShooterofIO: Modern Ops 2, and features a shared progression system allowing players to use weapons, attachments, killstreaks, perks, camos, and other cosmetics unlocked in those titles. At launch, Wargrounds 2.0 will feature three large-scale maps and the complete weapon arsenal from Modern Ops 2. Post-release updates are planned to add new maps, gameplay features, and customization options through seasonal content tied to both Modern Ops 2 and future entries in the franchise.
Announcement and release
In April 2025, it was announced a second Wargrounds title would be released shortly after ShooterofIO: Modern Ops 2. In mid-September 2025, SOI Studios announced that Wargrounds 2.0 would be supported from every studio, with a battle royale mode confirmed to be coming in 2026.
