Phase Four of the Mob Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a group of American superhero films produced by Mob Productions based on characters that appear in publications by Marvel Comics and DC Comics. Phase Four features all of the Mob Productions content set to be released starting in July 2029, with Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures distributing the films. Freddie Goodwin will produce every film in the phase, alongside other potential producers. There will be at least six television series part of Phase Four.
Phase Four currently has multiple upcoming confirmed projects coming in 2029 through to 2032. The two currently announced of four films include Deadpool II, scheduled for September 2029 and The Flash and the Multiverse of the Speed Force: The Birth of Inertia, scheduled for a February 2030 release. There are currently multiple television series in development starting with Ajax, scheduled to premiere on July 10, 2029. A second television series, titled Implusion, is scheduled to be released in November 2029.
There are currently four unannounced films in various stages of development along with the final two films of the phase being Infinity War Part I and Infinity War Part II.
Phase Four has already recieved some mixed reactions from critics, stating the overload of content may cause major issues for the MCU's timeline. However, they were happy to see the focus on quality instead of quantity.
Development[edit | edit source]
By June 2019, it was reported by Freddie Goodwin that the teams at Mob Productions had already created a plan for an additional six Phases to release after the conclusion of Phase Three.
On February 18, 2024, it was announced Phase Four would begin in July 2025. The following day, it was announced that Phase Four would also feature television series and films wouldn't be released monthly anymore. Goodwin confirmed the content would be film, series, film, then series, and so on.
In April 2024, Goodwin held a presentation and announced multiple projects that includes both feature length films and television series for Disney+. The first project, a television series, titled "Ajax", which will focus entirely on the villain Francis Freeman / Ajax, who is known for fighting Deadpool. Goodwin commented stating the series would consist of 4 episodes and would set up the second Deadpool film titled Deadpool II and confirmed the series would premiere on July 10, 2025, airing weekly. Goodwin announced a second series titled "Implusion", which consists of 10 episodes and will set up the film The Flash and the Multiverse of the Speed Force: The Birth of Inertia, the sequel to The Flash and the Multiverse of the Speed Force. Implusion will premiere in November 2025 with two episodes released each week. A third series titled "Moonknight" was announced to be releasing in 2026 and a fourth series, that will remain unannounced until early-2025. Goodwin also announced that the film based on the X-Men will release during Phase Four and will be split up into two parts. Regarding the Infinity War films, Goodwin stated they would conclude one story whilst setting up the events of Phase Five.

Regarding the future of the MCU, Goodwin announced that he had changed the story-telling formula and how the story goes from one phase to another. He confirmed that the "Multiversal Saga" would not have one storyline that connects all the films, instead each phase will have one "part" of the story and you'll know that it is set inside the MCU.
Goodwin expressed his disappointment to the "Chaos Saga", as he felt that the entire saga fell flat and wasn't as exciting and impressive as he had hoped. He blamed the format they used and the lack of originality within the entire Phase system, something Marvel had already done and has achieved better results.
Potential volume of content issues[edit | edit source]
Goodwin, the CEO of Mob Productions announced he had planned the introduction of releasing television series as early as 2019, a year after planning the first three phases. Regarding to the question of releasing too much content, Goodwin stated he had already thought long and hard about the possibility of needing to delay projects. Goodwin continued and stated the company wouldn't delay any project unless they absolutely had to do so. Regarding the Untitled Iron Man sequel, Goodwin announced the film is being decided upon being either delayed or cancelled.
In discussing the big number of television series releasing during Phase Four, Goodwin stated all the series would have no more than 6 episodes, except for Moonknight, which has 10 episodes. Goodwin stated future Phases won't have anymore than three television series unless the Phase lasts more than two years.
By June 2024, Goodwin had already planned the story ahead through to 2031, which will conclude the first nine Phases. Phase Three concluded in 2025 whilst Phase Six will end multiple years after Phase Four began in July 2025. The new "Saga" of films was titled in September 2024 titled "The Multiversal Saga", which will explore the multiverse within the MCU.
Delays and reworks[edit | edit source]
In 2026, Goodwin announced that the teams would be slowing down on releasing films. He confirmed that he wants to reduce the total number from 3 down to 2 films per year. He added the changes will come into effect as soon as Phase Five comes to a close, whilst Phase Six will be the longest due to the lower release of content.

Deadpool II (2029)[edit | edit source]
Deadpool must work with a very old friend from a completely alternate universe to stop a dangerous threat from emerging in New York City.
Development on a second Deadpool film began when SOI Studios began outlining films for the scrapped "SOIverse"; and planned a sequel to 2024's Deadpool film. The film was originally planned to feature the epic conclusion to the Deadpool story-arc and lead into the universe conclusion. In 2019, after SOI Studios was aquired by Disney and merged with Mob Productions, the films development progress had already been restarted. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Freddie Goodwin remade the plan to make films focus on more than a singler character and remade the plan for the Deadpool film sequel to focus on Deadpool and a second character, though at the time didn't know which character. By July 2021, during the development of the first film, the film was reported to focus on Wolverine and would have Hugh Jackman reprise his role from the X-Men film series.
Deadpool II is scheduled to be released on September 23, 2029, as part of Phase Four of the MCU.
The Flash and the Multiverse of the Speed Force: The Birth of Inertia (2030)[edit | edit source]
Barry Allen must work with his son Bart Allen to stop a evil duplicate of a speedster from destroying Central City.
Prior to developing The Flash and the Multiverse of the Speed Force, Benjamin Knowles announced he had an idea for a potentail third film and expressed interest in making a third film alongside Freddie Goodwin. Knowles intended to make four films based on the character "The Flash" and wanted the third film to be released during Phase Three, however Goodwin ultimately decided to have the film release during Phase Four.
The Flash and the Multiverse of the Speed Force: The Birth of Inertia is scheduled to be released on February 18, 2030, as part of Phase Four of the MCU.
The Dangerous X-Men – Part One (2031)[edit | edit source]
The X-Men must group together to stop a dangerous threat from eliminating all the heroes in the world.
Development on a X-Men focused film was confirmed during the 2023 SDCC, which, at the time, was titled "X-Men vs. The Avengers", however, the title was soon cancelled. Shortly after though, Mob Productions secretly began early work on a new and improved X-Men film concept that would directly tie into the main storyline, something the original idea didn't do.
The Dangerous X-Men – Part One is scheduled to be released on August 20, 2031.
Television series[edit | edit source]
There will be a total of six television series to premiere throughout Phase Four with the first two already announced to begin in July 2025 and November 2025, respectively. All television series will be released on Disney+.

Ajax (2029)[edit | edit source]
In December 2023, Goodwin signed on to create a television series based on the character Ajax and will have Skrein reprise his role from Fox's 2016's Deadpool film. In April 2024, the series was revealed to be entirely focused on Ajax, instead of being focused on Deadpool. Filming began in October 2028 and is expected to conclude in April 2029.
Goodwin announced the series would be within the comedy genre, whilst being focused on darker toned storytelling. Due to the low episode count of 4, the series will only tell a story within a episodic format.
