Agent Derp is an upcoming American horror comedy short film. Produced by Mob Productions, Alex Brow and Xavier Langley, the film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it will be the first film of a untitled universe. The film is being directed and written by Brow, Natalie Kingsley, and Oliver Greenfield.

Development on a short film based on a agent detective character was announced by Brow in December 2019 and production began in January 2020. Brow announced the film would be produced by his production company Mob Productions and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures on YouTube.

Agent Derp will be released theatrically in the United States on July 6, 2024. It will be the first installment of many short films.

Premise[edit | edit source]

Derp goes on a mission as a Agent to take down a evil company who call themselves the Evil Justice Society. While, Derp and his friends at Good Justice Society try to take down the evil, Derp is on a hunt for answers about his powerful powers. Everything will be explored.

Cast[edit | edit source]

  • Scott Menville as Derp: The main protagonist who has survived death multiple times and possesses special powers.
  • Matt Doherty as Angel of Death: The powerful being from the Nether Realm who killed Derp previously and is now a significant threat.
  • Adam Driver as Michael Legends: A member of the Good Justice Society who recruits Derp for help.
  • Dwayne Johnson as Patrick Styles: The antagonist who kidnaps Derp and has a history with the Good Justice Society.
  • Ewan McGregor as Doctor Doc. Sam: A doctor at the Good Justice Society who examines Derp.
  • Gal Gadot as Sam Foster: A woman with great knowledge of survival, working at the Good Justice Society.
  • Chris Hemsworth as Shane Foster: Sam Foster’s sibling who joins the mission in the Nether Realm.

Amy Poehler will appear in her role as Alex Stonecutter. Multiple characters from Animation Life will also appear in the film. Steve Stonecutter will appear in the film, who is voiced by Jack Black.

Development[edit | edit source]

In June 2020, a short film based on the character Derp from Squared Media was announced to be in development by Brow. The script was written by Brow and will combine elements from various superhero films, whilst being strictly a "horror film which is driven by comedy". A report article in May 2024, part of Brow's efforts to announce future projects, stated the film wasn't being worked on during 2021–2023, though would be picked up once again. Scott Menville was cast as the titular character Derp, with the film having a budget of $120,000.

Writing[edit | edit source]

In writing the script, Brow announced he begun working with Kingsley and Greenfield to enhance the writing quality and help make a film using the film's budget to their full advantage. Brow confirmed the film wouldn't have a "nice" ending and would be continued in a future installment. It was confirmed to be 13 minutes long.

Marketing[edit | edit source]

On May 19, 2024, Brow released the teaser poster for the short film. The first trailer was released on March 10, 2024 and a final trailer is scheduled to debut on June 20, 2024.

In early 2024, three more short films were announced: Steve's Wonder Land of Adventure, The Knightingale, and Agent Derp 2. Brow announced all the projects will be connected in one universe that is currently untitled.
