Chapter One: Gods and Entities of the MC Universe (MCU) is a group of American superhero films and television series produced by Mob Productions based on characters that appear in publications by Squared Media. Chapter One features all of the MCU projects set to be released starting in late 2025, with Warner Bros. Pictures distributing the films, while the series release on the streaming service Max. The first project in this chapter will be the film Minecraft, scheduled to be released in June 2025. Freddie Goodwin produces each and every project as well executive produces every series in this chapter.
The first film Minecraft is scheduled to be released on June 18, 2025, as part of the first chapter.
The films of the chapter include Superman starring David Corenswet, The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow starring Milly Alcock, and Swamp Thing.
The Max series of the chapter include the ensemble Creature Commandos, Waller starring Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Lanterns, Paradise Lost, Booster Gold, and the second season of Peacemaker.
Development[edit | edit source]
In 2020, Freddie Goodwin was in discussions to start development on a universe based in Minecraft due to the success that the first film had. Goodwin began planning ideas and looked into reimagining what his 2016 film had already done, by building a universe, without using the same main villain.
Writer Jackson Miller, who died prior to the start of development for Minecraft One (2035) began production on multiple films related to the video game of the same name Minecraft, which would be "unique and original". He stated that the Minecraft Cinematic Universe (MCCU) would begin in 2016 and continue through decades if the films were successful.
In 2014, Mob Productions and SOI Studios were given rights to develop and produce films as long as Freddie Goodwin oversees them. By 2019, the deal changed to that anyone can make a film as long as the title "Minecraft" isn't in the title. In 2020, the producers had acquired rights to Entity 303, Null, and lots of other characters including the hostile boss — the Ender Dragon — which Goodwin planned to incorperate into the films.
In 2015, Mob Productions regained rights to the rights and began working on a franchise of films. By the end of the year, due to the deadline, the films turned into short films so they could begin releasing in 2016.
