The 2023 IDF World Championship was the inaugural edition of the IDF World Championship, organized by the International Darts Federation (IDF). The event was held at the iconic Alexandra Palace in London from 14–17 January 2023. This marked the beginning of a new era in professional darts, attracting the world’s best players to compete for the prestigious title.
The tournament featured 16 players, all qualifying through the newly established IDF Order of Merit. The event was played in a legs format, with each match showcasing high-quality darts and thrilling moments.
Max Mad was crowned the first-ever IDF World Champion, defeating Luke Littler 11–8 in a closely contested final. Mad’s clinical finishing and heavy scoring proved decisive, and his victory signaled the arrival of a new star in world darts. Mad also hit the tournament’s only nine-dart finish, cementing his status as the breakthrough player of the event.
