Dick Grayson begins work as a probationary officer with the Blüdhaven Police Department and is assigned to patrol with Sergeant Elena Ramirez. While responding to a warehouse alarm, they find evidence of a recent break-in but no suspects. Later that night, Dick leaves his apartment and, wearing a masked vigilante outfit, interrupts a robbery at a convenience store and detains one of the thieves before police arrive. At the station, Detective Marcus Vale questions Dick about his whereabouts during the incident, noting the timing of the call. Dick meets forensic analyst Tara Keene, who shows him confiscated equipment linked to a string of organized thefts across the docks. After his shift, Dick returns to the warehouse and discovers hidden communication devices inside shipping crates. He photographs the equipment and departs before security returns, while Ramirez receives orders assigning Dick permanently to the night patrol unit.
