EchoSoft is an upcoming productivity software suite developed by the California-based startup EchoWare Systems. The software was officially announced on April 11, 2025, with a projected release date in Q4 2025. EchoSoft is designed as a modular desktop application that integrates notetaking, task management, calendar syncing, and collaborative editing into a single interface.
Overview[edit | edit source]
EchoSoft is marketed as a unified workspace for individual users and remote teams. The software combines various tools into a customizable interface powered by a local-first architecture, allowing offline usage with optional encrypted sync via cloud services. At launch, the suite will support Windows, macOS, and Linux, with plans to expand to mobile platforms in future iterations.
Features[edit | edit source]
As of its announcement, the following core features have been confirmed:
- Multi-layer Notebooks: Users can create notebooks with rich text, code blocks, embeds, and real-time collaboration.
- Task Timeline and Calendar Integration: Built-in task tracking system with support for Google Calendar, Outlook, and CalDAV.
- Workspaces: Customizable dashboards for team projects with live editing and shared permissions.
- Sync Engine: Local-first design with encrypted synchronization and conflict resolution options.
- Plugin API: A modular system allowing third-party extensions, scheduled to launch in beta alongside the initial release.
Development[edit | edit source]
EchoSoft is being developed by EchoWare Systems, a startup founded in 2022 by former developers from Notion, Obsidian, and Atlassian. The software is primarily written in Rust for the backend and TypeScript using Electron for the frontend interface. A public beta is scheduled for August 2025, with the 1.0 release targeted for late November.
Reception[edit | edit source]
Initial coverage of EchoSoft has been limited to early previews by tech blogs and independent developers. Critics have highlighted the software’s emphasis on local-first design and flexible plugin support as differentiating factors from existing productivity platforms. However, no hands-on reviews have been published as of April 2025.
