Noah Mad (June 16, 1950 – c. 2009) was an American serial killer who was suspected of killing more than 30 people between 1969 and 2008. His known victims ranged in age from 16 to 64. Mad committed his first murder at age 16 in the United States before relocating to Australia in 1970, where he continued his crimes until his capture in 2008. He died the following year while in custody.

Mad’s first victim, killed in 1966, was a peer of the same age. According to later accounts, he allegedly spoke publicly about the crime for two years before leaving the United States with his family. In 1970, his parents moved the family to Australia after growing suspicion in their community. The murder was initially attributed to Mad’s father, Jackson, who was convicted and sentenced to death. Mad’s mother, Mary, distanced herself from him and placed blame on her eldest son, Craig, who later died by suicide in 1974.

Over the next three decades, Mad was believed to have committed a series of murders across multiple states in Australia. His crimes largely targeted both young men and older women, with investigators later connecting him to more than 30 unsolved cases. He evaded capture until 2008, when Australian police identified him through forensic evidence. He was taken into custody and died the following year under disputed circumstances.
