The first season of the American television series Songs of War was released on the streaming service YouTube in three parts. The series is based on the video game of the same name and adapts characters created by Squared Media. It is set in the Craftinverse, sharing continuity with the other television series of the universe. The season is produced by Mob Productions. Freddie Goodwin serves as showrunner for the season.
Mojang and Warner Bros. Pictures will continue to partner with Mob Productions in developing Minecraft themed content. The season features Jack Black and Amy Poehler as the lead roles. A sixth season, under a new series, Minecraft: Block Wars, was ordered.
Upon the release of the first volume, the season received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised its writing, narrative cohesion, and efforts to resolve long-standing plot threads introduced across the first four seasons. Reviewers particularly highlighted the season’s focus on structural clarity and thematic closure, noting that it addressed previously unresolved elements of the series’ mythology without relying heavily on retrospective exposition.

| Ardonia, a vast world shaped by magic and conflict, is home to the Ardoni, beings capable of wielding powerful abilities known as Songs, including the rare and dangerous Prime Songs entrusted to four clan leaders to maintain balance. When an invading force from the Nether devastates the land and overwhelms even the legendary Enderknights, the Ardoni hold a tournament to select a champion to wield the Prime Songs, but the victor, Ingressus of the exiled Voltaris clan, is denied the power and instead murders three clan leaders to seize it, becoming known as the Deathsinger. He allies with King Chronos of the Nether, triggering the Great War, which engulfs Ardonia until Achillean Nestoris, later called the Tidesinger, unites the remaining forces and defeats the invasion, culminating in a final duel where both he and the Deathsinger fall and the Prime Songs are restored. Years later, Thalleous investigates these events with the scholar Hawken, who suspects the Voltaris have returned at Mount Velgrin; upon arriving, they discover signs of recent activity before being ambushed by Voltaris warriors led by Tygren, resulting in Hawken’s death and Thalleous narrowly escaping using his Song abilities as the enemy watches from afar. | ||||||

| Weeks after the Great War, Thalleous secretly hides the Prime Songs across Ardonia while mercenaries Jalkar and Grim infiltrate Etherea to steal an Ender Dragon egg, improvising their plan after discovering faulty schematics and fighting through castle guards before escaping, only for Grim to accidentally drop the egg off a cliff, causing it to teleport and forcing the pair to track its energy toward Underwood. Meanwhile, Thalleous returns to Sendaria to secure the final Prime Song, encountering Senn and Ria—two young Ardoni training for future adventures—whom he quietly mentors before their father, Osivian, intervenes and separates them due to strict clan expectations. Elsewhere, prisoner Lucan is released under the condition of dangerous mining duty on the Basalt Coast, reluctantly accepting the assignment. That night, Thalleous confides in Osivian about the Voltaris’ return, though his claims are dismissed without proof; when Senn overhears the conversation, Thalleous offers to take him along on his journey, which Osivian permits in hopes of discipline, leaving Ria behind. At the same time in Underwood, a hunter named Abbigail discovers the Ender Dragon egg after being led to it by her dog, unknowingly tying her fate to the unfolding conflict. | ||||||

| Lucan reluctantly begins work in the Basalt Mines under the supervision of a negligent guard, Eddy, but their routine quickly turns deadly when a Necromancer launches an attack, summoning armed undead that overwhelm the miners; Eddy is killed in the chaos, forcing Lucan to defend himself and later report the incident after being severely injured, leading Felden officials to task him with investigating the growing Necromancer threat despite his objections. Meanwhile in Underwood, Abbigail unknowingly takes possession of the stolen Ender Dragon egg, bringing it home where Mr. Finch identifies it as a valuable “Dragon Stone” and refuses to return it to searching Etherean guards, instead intending to profit from it, straining his relationship with Abbigail, who becomes increasingly unsettled as the egg begins to emit a mysterious glow. At the same time, Thalleous departs Sendaria with Senn, explaining during their journey that the Prime Songs were redistributed after the Great War to be hidden by trusted families, and revealing his belief that the returning Voltaris will seek them out, prompting his mission to secure them before another catastrophe unfolds. | ||||||

| Abbigail experiences a vivid dream set within an Ender castle, where she witnesses the fall of the End to Nether forces before awakening, only to soon face reality as mercenaries Jalkar and Grim return to reclaim the Dragon Stone, overpowering Mr. Finch and defeating Abbigail despite her resistance. Elsewhere, Lucan begins his hunt for Necromancers but mistakenly clashes with a Felina named Niika, with the two quickly realizing their shared goal and narrowly escaping an undead ambush, leading to a reluctant partnership as Lucan convinces her to work together to locate the Necromancer threat. Meanwhile, Thalleous and Senn arrive in Oakendale and travel via beacon to Crown Peak, where Thalleous entrusts the Mobilium Prime Song to his associate Sulliman despite Senn’s distrust, believing the growing threats across Ardonia signal a return to darker times. Back in Underwood, Abbigail recovers and, refusing to accept her life as a farmer, resolves to pursue Jalkar and Grim into the forest to recover the stolen Dragon Stone, setting out alone despite Mr. Finch’s attempts to stop her. | ||||||
