The first season of the American animated television series W.H.O premiered on Netflix on July 1, 2024. The season follows a younger Alex Singh and follows him as he becomes friend with a imaginary friend and must overcome challenges. The season is produced by Mob Productions, Mojang and Warner Bros. Pictures. Freddie Goodwin serves as showrunner for the season.
The season was ordered in June 2022 and premiered on November 27, 2023.

| Sponge Mike woke up in his cozy pineapple house in Bikini Bottom, the underwater city he called home. He had one thing on his mind: surfing. Together, they rode some impressive waves, but Sponge Mike was still searching for something more. He had heard rumors of a secret surf spot known as the "Big Kahuna," rumored to have the biggest waves in Bikini Bottom. Determined to find it, he set off on a quest with his trusty pet snail, Slimy. Their journey was filled with obstacles and challenges, from treacherous coral reefs to sea monsters, but Sponge Mike never lost hope. He pressed on, driven by his love of surfing and his desire to find the Big Kahuna. Finally, after a long and grueling journey, they arrived at the Big Kahuna. The waves were massive, and Sponge Mike felt a rush of excitement and anticipation as he paddled out to catch one. With Bubble Buddy cheering him on from the shore, he caught the biggest wave of his life, carving through the water with grace and skill. As the sun began to set on a perfect day of surfing, Sponge Mike realized that the ultimate surf spot wasn't a physical location, but rather the feeling of freedom and exhilaration that came from riding the waves. Development[edit | edit source]
In September 2022, Mob Productions renewed the series for a second season with a 10 episode order. The following month, Zendaya left the project due to personal reasons. The season was originally planned to release in 2023, but was delayed due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike.
Casting[edit | edit source]
Shortly after the second season was renewed, Zendaya left the project. Amy Poehler replaced her for the role of Alex Stonecutter. Previous stars Jack Black, Tom Holland, Jason Momoa, James Earl Jones, and Danielle Brooks.
Photorealistic animation[edit | edit source]
Unlike other animation, Goodwin wanted to use photorealistic animation for Minecraft. They kept the 3D dimension blocked shapes of the game to keep the feeling of the game theme. However, they weren't strict on what they can add and do within the universe.
Music[edit | edit source]
In order to keep the theme and music for the series as close to the video game, Goodwin approached C418, Lena Raine, Kumi Tanioka, and Aaron Cherof to make the score for the series.
Marketing[edit | edit source]
A second season was announced as early as September 2022 and was originally slated for a 2023 release; however was delayed from the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. A teaser trailer that revealed the new designs for the villains Warewolf, Entity 303, and Null was released on December 10, 2023. A full trailer was released on March 18, 2024; with a release date of July 1, 2024. A second full trailer was released on March 27, 2024, that revealed the one episode once every two week deal.

The second season of Minecraft is scheduled to premiere on July 1, 2024, and will air one episode every two weeks until November 4, 2024.
