Tournament summary
Van Dijk produced one of his strongest sets of the match in the twelfth. He won it 3–0 with legs of 11, 12 and 11 darts and averaged above 125 across the set. Van Dijk then moved ahead again by taking the thirteenth 3–2. Brow led 2–1 in legs, but Van Dijk levelled in 12 darts before finishing 104 in the deciding leg to lead the final 7–6 and move within one set of the title.

First round
Brow was therefore required to win both remaining sets to become champion. He opened the fourteenth set with an 11-darter before Van Dijk replied with a 12-dart leg. Brow moved 2–1 ahead with a 13-darter, but Van Dijk forced a deciding leg by holding throw in 11 darts.
The championship began on the afternoon of 12 December with the first eight matches of the 64-player first round. Charlie Sutton and United States qualifier Daniel Morales opened the tournament with a five-set contest for the right to face defending champion White. Morales won the opening set 3–1 before Sutton levelled by taking the second 3–2, surviving a set dart from Morales at double 16. Sutton then moved 2–1 ahead in sets after producing checkouts of 116 and 88 during the third, but Morales responded with his strongest spell of the match to take the fourth set 3–0 and force a deciding fifth. Morales led 2–1 in the final set and was one leg from victory, but Sutton held in 14 darts before producing a 13-dart break in the deciding leg to complete a 3–2 victory. Sutton averaged 96.84 compared with Morales's 96.17 and progressed to a second-round meeting with White.

Mason Kelly then defeated ProTour qualifier Liam Davidson 3–1. Davidson took the opening set 3–2 after Kelly missed two darts to win it, but Kelly responded by winning the second set 3–1 and then produced a 12-darter during a 3–0 third set. Davidson threatened to force a deciding set after moving 2–1 ahead in the fourth, but Kelly levelled with a 13-dart leg before finishing 81 in two darts to complete the match. Kelly averaged 101.36 to Davidson's 97.62 and advanced to face 32nd seed Daniel McKenna.
Van Dijk was first to a finish in the fifth leg, leaving 84 after 12 darts, while Brow sat on 81. Van Dijk hit treble 20 but missed double 12 and double six for the championship. Brow immediately punished the misses, finishing 81 in two darts through treble 19 and double 12 to win the set 3–2 and force a fifteenth and deciding set.

The third match saw ProTour qualifier Theo Richardson defeat Patrick Byrne 3–1. Byrne took the first set 3–2 after Richardson missed double 20 for a 116 finish, but Richardson responded with consecutive 3–1 sets and averaged above 104 during the middle portion of the match. Byrne won the opening two legs of the fourth set, only for Richardson to produce three consecutive legs in 14, 13 and 15 darts to complete the comeback within the set and seal the match. Richardson averaged 102.74 and hit seven maximums, while Byrne averaged 98.91. The victory earned Richardson a second-round match against 16th seed Ryan Thomas.
Brow held the opening leg of the final set in 12 darts before Van Dijk levelled in 11. Van Dijk then broke Brow in 13 darts, leaving him one leg from his first World Championship title. Brow responded under pressure with an 11-dart break of his own to make the deciding set 2–2 and send the championship to one final leg.

Adrian Smit, who had reached the third round of the Players Championship Finals as an unseeded player, continued his late-season form with a 3–0 victory over New Zealand qualifier Caleb Thompson. Thompson remained competitive throughout the opening set but missed a dart at double 12 in its deciding leg, allowing Smit to finish 74 for a 3–2 set. Smit then won the second 3–1 before breaking twice in a 3–0 third set. He finished the match with a 104.16 average and six maximums, the highest average of the opening four matches, while Thompson averaged 94.88. Smit progressed to face 17th seed Niklas Hofer, whom he defeated at the Players Championship Finals less than three weeks earlier.
Both players opened the final leg with 180s. Brow followed with 140, while Van Dijk replied with 137. Brow added 140 to leave 41 after nine darts, with Van Dijk scoring 180 to leave four after nine.

Cameron Reid defeated ProTour qualifier Finn Jacobs 3–2 in another lengthy match. Reid won the opening set 3–1 before Jacobs levelled by taking the second 3–2 with a 108 checkout. Reid restored his advantage with a 3–0 third set, but Jacobs again responded, taking the fourth 3–1 after Reid missed four match darts across the final two legs. Jacobs then opened the deciding set with consecutive 14-dart legs and moved one leg from the second round. Reid held throw to make it 2–1 and survived two match darts from Jacobs in the fourth leg before finishing 76 to level. Reid then opened the deciding leg with scores of 180 and 140, eventually completing it in 13 darts to win 3–2. He averaged 100.43 to Jacobs's 99.86 and advanced to face eighth seed Wyatt Walker.
Brow therefore had the first opportunity for the title. He hit nine with his tenth dart before missing double 16. Van Dijk returned on double two with three darts for the championship but missed inside with his first dart, missed double one with his second and bust his score with the third.

South Korean qualifier Min-jae Park produced the first international victory of the tournament by defeating Aaron Doyle 3–1. Doyle took the opening set 3–2 after Park missed three set darts, but Park responded with a 3–1 second set and then moved ahead after winning the third 3–2 with a 120 checkout. Doyle led 2–0 in the fourth set and appeared likely to force a decider, but Park won three consecutive legs, including a 13-darter and a 104 checkout, to complete the victory. Park averaged 99.72 compared with Doyle's 97.18 and became the first South Korean player to reach the second round of an IDF World Championship. He will face 25th seed Jamie Fletcher.
Brow returned on 32 and hit double 16 with his first dart to win the final 8–7 and secure his second IDF World Championship.

Theo Walsh then survived a five-set encounter with final qualifier Thomas Gallagher. Walsh won the opening set 3–1 before Gallagher responded with a 3–2 second set. Walsh took the third 3–0 and had three match darts during the fourth, but Gallagher survived to win it 3–2 and force a deciding set. Gallagher moved 2–1 ahead in the fifth before Walsh levelled with a 12-darter. Gallagher then missed one match dart at double 18 in the deciding leg, allowing Walsh to finish 68 on double four for a 3–2 victory. Walsh averaged 100.81 to Gallagher's 99.94 and earned a second-round meeting with ninth seed and Grand Slam runner-up Jeroen van Dijk.
Brow averaged 113.74, the highest average of the championship, while Van Dijk averaged 112.91. The pair combined for 61 maximums, with Brow hitting 32 and Van Dijk 29. Brow had therefore increased his match average in every round of the tournament, recording 110.64, 111.38, 112.06, 112.44, 113.18 and 113.74.

The afternoon session concluded with Stefan Müller defeating ProTour qualifier Kyle Brennan 3–1. Müller made the stronger start and won the opening set 3–0 before Brennan levelled the match with a 3–2 second set containing a 121 checkout on the bullseye. Müller regained control by taking the third set 3–1 and then moved 2–0 ahead in the fourth. Brennan saved two match darts and won consecutive legs to force a deciding leg within the set, but Müller opened with a 180 and completed a 14-dart leg to seal the victory. Müller averaged 101.92 and hit six maximums, while Brennan averaged 99.63. Müller advanced to face 24th seed Noah Parker.
The victory gave Brow his second World Championship title following his victory in 2025. He also became the first player in IDF history to win the Grand Slam, Players Championship Finals and World Championship consecutively, finishing the three-event run with 19 consecutive match victories.

The opening session therefore produced five victories for Order of Merit qualifiers, two for ProTour qualifiers and one for an international qualifier. Smit's 104.16 was the highest average of the session, ahead of Richardson's 102.74, while four of the eight matches required a deciding set. Sutton's victory confirmed him as White's first opponent of the defending champion's title defence.
Van Dijk finished runner-up at a second major in less than two months, having also lost to Brow in the Grand Slam final. His World Championship run included victories over defending champion White, Walker and Sanders, while his average increased from 108.92 in the second round to 112.91 in the final.

Champion
Brow won his second World Championship, adding the 2027 title to his victory in 2025.

He began the tournament with a 110.64 average against Tanaka and increased his match average in every subsequent round. He averaged 111.38 against Van der Meer, 112.06 against Kai Mitchell, 112.44 against MacLeod, 113.18 against Mad and 113.74 against Van Dijk in the final.

Brow survived deciding sets against Mitchell and MacLeod before defeating Mad 6–5 in an 11-set semi-final. The final against Van Dijk also required the maximum number of sets, with Brow recovering from 7–6 down to win the final two sets and take the title.

His victory was his third consecutive major title following the Grand Slam and Players Championship Finals and extended his winning streak across those three events to 19 matches.

Defending champion
Defending champion
White enters the tournament as defending champion after defeating Mad 7–6 in the 2026 final.
White's defence of the World Championship ended in the quarter-finals after a 5–4 defeat to Van Dijk.

White led 1–0, 2–1, 3–2 and 4–3 in sets but was unable to establish a two-set advantage. Van Dijk won the eighth set to force a decider and survived a missed match opportunity from White in the deciding leg before finishing double six.

As the number one seed, White received a first-round bye. His opening opponent was confirmed during the first session when Sutton defeated Morales 3–2.
White averaged 111.41 in defeat and finished the tournament having averaged 109.84, 111.12, 111.76 and 111.41 across his four matches.

White enters the championship after retaining the number-one position on the IDF Order of Merit during 2026, winning the 2026 IDF European Championship and reaching the final of the 2026 IDF Players Championship Finals, where he lost 7–6 to Brow.
Notable performances
Brow recorded the three highest averages of his campaign in the quarter-final, semi-final and final, culminating in the tournament-high 113.74 against Van Dijk.

Notable entrants
Brow's six match averages were 110.64, 111.38, 112.06, 112.44, 113.18 and 113.74, meaning his average increased in every round.
Brow enters as the second seed following consecutive victories at the 2026 IDF Grand Slam of Darts and Players Championship Finals. His second-round opponent will be the winner of Bennett and Japanese qualifier Tanaka.

Mad, seeded third, was runner-up to White in the 2026 World Championship final and reached the semi-finals of both the Grand Slam and Players Championship Finals. He will face either Walsh or final qualifier Samuel Price.
Van Dijk also increased his average in every round, recording 108.92, 109.37, 110.41, 111.98, 112.36 and 112.91. His run included victories over Walker, defending champion White and Sanders before losing to Brow in the final.

Storm is the sixth seed following his victory at the 2026 IDF World Grand Prix. After suffering a wrist injury following that event, he returned later in the season and reached the Grand Slam semi-finals and Players Championship Finals quarter-finals.
Mad reached the semi-finals for a second consecutive year and recorded the only nine-dart finish of the championship. He averaged 112.64 in his 6–5 semi-final defeat to Brow.

Van Dijk, the ninth seed, will begin his campaign against Walsh after the latter defeated Gallagher in five sets during the opening session.
Sanders reached his first World Championship semi-final and recorded four consecutive averages above 110 from the third round onwards.

MacLeod averaged 111.31 in his quarter-final defeat to Brow, while White averaged 111.41 in defeat to Van Dijk.

Cole was the deepest unseeded player in the bottom half of the draw, reaching the fourth round after victories over Martin Vos, Lewis and Pike. He averaged 110.07 in his deciding-set defeat to Mad.

Smit reached the fourth round after eliminating Hofer and Thomas, while Park became the first South Korean player to reach the third round of an IDF World Championship.

Price's 170 checkout remained the highest finish of the championship.

The 2027 IDF World Darts Championship was a professional darts tournament organised by the International Darts Federation (IDF), held from 12 December 2026 to 3 January 2027 at Alexandra Palace in London, England.

Alex Brow won the championship, defeating Jeroen van Dijk 8–7 in the final. It was Brow's second World Championship title, having previously won the 2025 edition. His victory also completed a run of three consecutive major titles following victories at the 2026 Grand Slam and 2026 Players Championship Finals. Brow finished the tournament on a 19-match winning streak across the three events.

Logan White entered as the defending champion, having defeated Max Mad 7–6 in the 2026 final. White's title defence ended in the quarter-finals when he was defeated 5–4 by Van Dijk.

Mad recorded the tournament's only nine-dart finish during his second-round victory over Kieran Walsh. Leon Price recorded the highest checkout with a maximum 170 finish against Nathan Owens.

Background[edit | edit source]

Format[edit | edit source]

The 2027 championship featured 96 players, a reduction from the 128-player field used at the 2026 tournament.

The top 32 players on the IDF Order of Merit following the 2026 IDF Players Championship Finals were seeded and received a bye through the first round.

The remaining 64 players contested 32 first-round matches. Each first-round match was tied to a predetermined position in the second-round bracket, with the winner progressing directly to face one of the 32 seeds.

From the second round onwards, the championship operated as a conventional 64-player knockout tournament.

All matches were played using set play. Every set was contested over the best of five legs, with the first player to win three legs winning the set.

There was no extended tie-break within a set. If a set reached two legs apiece, the fifth leg decided the set.

The match lengths were:

 • First round: best of 5 sets – first to 3
 • Second round: best of 5 sets – first to 3
 • Third round: best of 7 sets – first to 4
 • Fourth round: best of 7 sets – first to 4
 • Quarter-finals: best of 9 sets – first to 5
 • Semi-finals: best of 11 sets – first to 6
 • Final: best of 15 sets – first to 8

The 2027 final was extended to a possible 15 sets, compared with the best-of-13-set final used in 2026.

The player throwing first in the opening set was determined by the pre-match bull, with the right to throw first alternating at the beginning of each subsequent set.

Quarter-finals[edit | edit source]

Van Dijk ended White's title defence with a 5–4 victory on 27 December. Semi-finals[edit | edit source]

Van Dijk defeated Sanders 6–4 in the first semi-final. Sanders repeatedly responded during the opening six sets as the match reached 3–3, but Van Dijk won three of the final four sets and finished 81 in the deciding leg of the tenth set. Van Dijk averaged 112.36 to Sanders's 111.08 and reached his second major final in less than two months.

Brow and Mad then contested an 11-set semi-final. Brow led 3–1 and 4–2 before Mad recovered to 4–4. Brow moved 5–4 ahead, but Mad won the tenth set and then moved 2–1 ahead in the deciding set. Brow forced a final leg and punished two missed match darts from Mad by checking out 81 to win 6–5. Brow averaged 113.18 to Mad's 112.64, with the pair combining for 52 maximums.

Final[edit | edit source]

The final on 3 January was contested between Brow and Van Dijk in a rematch of the 2026 Grand Slam final, which Brow had won 16–13. Brow entered the match on an 18-match winning streak across the Grand Slam, Players Championship Finals and World Championship. Both finalists had increased their match average in every round of the championship, with Brow reaching 113.18 in the semi-finals and Van Dijk reaching 112.36.

Van Dijk made the faster start, taking the opening set 3–1 after Brow missed double 16 for a 104 checkout. Van Dijk doubled his advantage by taking the second 3–2. Brow had led the set 2–1 in legs, but Van Dijk levelled with an 11-darter before finishing 121 on the bullseye in the deciding leg to move 2–0 ahead in sets.

Brow responded by sweeping the third set 3–0 with legs of 11, 12 and 12 darts. Van Dijk restored his two-set advantage by taking the fourth 3–2. Brow missed double 12 for a 144 checkout in the deciding leg and Van Dijk punished the miss by finishing 116 to establish a 3–1 lead.

The fifth set produced the first major swing of the final. Van Dijk moved 2–0 ahead in legs and had two darts at double 16 to move 4–1 ahead in sets. Brow survived and produced consecutive 11-darters to level the set before completing a 124 checkout on the bullseye in the deciding leg to reduce his deficit to 3–2.

Brow levelled the final by taking the sixth set 3–1. He opened with a 12-darter and, after Van Dijk held throw in 13, Brow produced consecutive 11-dart legs. Brow then moved ahead for the first time by winning the seventh set 3–2. Van Dijk missed one dart at double 18 in the deciding leg before Brow finished 81 through treble 19 and double 12 to establish a 4–3 lead.

Van Dijk immediately responded in the eighth set. He opened with consecutive 12-darters before Brow won the third leg in 11. Van Dijk completed 104 in the fourth leg to take the set 3–1 and level the final at 4–4.

The ninth set became one of the highest-quality periods of the final. Brow opened its first leg with consecutive 180s and hit treble 20 with his seventh dart to continue a nine-dart attempt. His eighth dart missed treble 19, and he completed the leg in ten darts. Van Dijk responded with an 11-darter before Brow held in 12. Van Dijk levelled in 13 darts, but Brow completed 132 on the bullseye in the deciding leg to regain the lead at 5–4.

Van Dijk won the tenth set 3–2, surviving a set dart from Brow at double 16 before finishing 84. Brow then took the eleventh 3–1, including finishes of 116 and 121, to lead 6–5.

Both players opened the final leg with 180s. Brow followed with 140, while Van Dijk replied with 137. Brow added 140 to leave 41 after nine darts, with Van Dijk scoring 180 to leave four after nine.

Brow therefore had the first opportunity for the title. He hit nine with his tenth dart before missing double 16. Van Dijk returned on double two with three darts for the championship but missed inside with his first dart, missed double one with his second and bust his score with the third.

Brow returned on 32 and hit double 16 with his first dart to win the final 8–7 and secure his second IDF World Championship.

The victory gave Brow his second World Championship title following his victory in 2025. He also became the first player in IDF history to win the Grand Slam, Players Championship Finals and World Championship consecutively, finishing the three-event run with 19 consecutive match victories.

Van Dijk finished runner-up at a second major in less than two months, having also lost to Brow in the Grand Slam final. His World Championship run included victories over defending champion White, Walker and Sanders, while his average increased from 108.92 in the second round to 112.91 in the final.
