The fourth round began on 22 December | The fourth round began on 22 December. White defeated Smit 4–2 with a 111.76 average, reclaiming the tournament's highest individual match average. Smit averaged 108.93 in defeat after his run through Hofer and Thomas. Van Dijk defeated Walker 4–3 with a 110.41 average to Walker's 109.88, which became the highest losing average of the championship at that stage. Parker Reeves defeated Owens 4–2 with a 109.64 average, while Sanders survived Ethan Mitchell 4–3 with a 110.72 average. Mitchell averaged 109.33 in defeat.
The fourth round concluded on 23 December with Brow facing 18th seed Kai Mitchell. Brow entered the match on a 15-match winning streak across the Grand Slam, Players Championship Finals and World Championship and had averaged above 110 in each of his two previous matches. Mitchell, however, made an exceptional start. He broke Brow in the opening leg of the match with a 121 checkout and went on to win the first set 3–1 with an average above 113.
Brow responded by taking the second set 3–0, opening with an 11-darter before producing consecutive 13-dart legs. Mitchell regained the lead by edging the third set 3–2. Brow had moved 2–1 ahead in legs, but Mitchell levelled with a 12-darter and finished 104 in the deciding leg after Brow missed one dart at double 16.
The fourth set produced some of the highest-quality darts of the tournament. Brow opened with consecutive 180s and hit treble 20 with his seventh dart, but his eighth dart missed treble 19 to end another attempt at a nine-dart finish. He completed the leg in ten darts. Mitchell responded with an 11-darter before Brow took the third leg in 12. Mitchell levelled in 13 darts, but Brow finished 121 on the bullseye in the deciding leg to make the match 2–2.
Brow moved ahead for the first time by winning the fifth set 3–1, including another 11-darter, but Mitchell refused to allow him to escape. The 2025 Players Championship Finals runner-up won the sixth set 3–2, taking out 164 in its fourth leg before holding throw in 13 darts in the decider to force a seventh set.
Mitchell opened the deciding set with a 12-darter. Brow levelled in 11 darts and then broke with a 13-darter to move one leg from the quarter-finals. Mitchell responded with a 12-dart break to force a deciding leg. Brow opened with 180 and Mitchell replied with 140; Brow followed with 140 before Mitchell hit 180. After 12 darts, Brow left 81 while Mitchell left 84. Brow hit treble 19 but missed double 12 for the match. Mitchell then hit treble 20 but missed double 12 and double six for an 84 checkout. Brow returned and converted double six to win 4–3.
Brow averaged 112.06, establishing a new tournament record for the third time during the championship. Mitchell averaged 110.18, surpassing Walker's 109.88 as the highest losing average of the event. The pair combined for 35 maximums, with Brow hitting 18 and Mitchell 17. Brow's victory extended his winning streak across the three tournaments to 16 matches and secured a quarter-final meeting with either MacLeod or Jackson.
MacLeod and Jackson followed in an all-seeded contest between two players who had averaged above 108 in the third round. Jackson took the opening set 3–2 with a 116 checkout, but MacLeod responded by winning the second 3–1 and the third 3–0. MacLeod produced legs of 12, 11 and 13 darts in the third set and averaged above 119 across the three legs.
Jackson levelled the match by taking the fourth set 3–2. MacLeod had a dart at double 18 to take a 3–1 lead in sets, but Jackson survived and finished 81 in two darts in the deciding leg. MacLeod responded with a 3–1 fifth set, including a 132 checkout on the bullseye, to move one set from victory.
Jackson opened the sixth set with a 13-darter, but MacLeod levelled in 12 and broke throw in 11 darts after visits of 180, 140 and 145. Jackson responded with a 12-dart break to force a deciding leg in the set. MacLeod opened with 140 and 180, while Jackson replied with consecutive 140s. MacLeod reached 84 after 12 darts and converted the checkout through treble 20, double 12 to complete a 4–2 victory.
MacLeod averaged 110.12 to Jackson's 108.77 and hit 15 maximums. He advanced to the World Championship quarter-finals and became Brow's next opponent.
Mad then faced Cole, the final unseeded player remaining in the tournament. Cole had increased his average in each of his first three matches, from 105.38 in the first round to 107.12 and 108.72 in subsequent victories over Lewis and Pike. Cole immediately showed that he was capable of extending the run, taking the opening set 3–2 with a 120 checkout in the deciding leg.
Mad responded by sweeping the second set 3–0, but Cole regained the lead after winning the third 3–1. Mad levelled again with a 3–2 fourth set, surviving a dart at double 16 from Cole before finishing 96. Mad then moved ahead for the first time by taking the fifth 3–1, opening the set with consecutive 12-darters.
Cole produced another response in the sixth set. He opened with an 11-darter and moved 2–0 ahead with a 13-dart break. Mad won the third leg in 12, but Cole completed a 126 checkout on the bullseye to take the set 3–1 and force a decider.
Mad held throw in 12 darts to open the seventh set before Cole levelled in 13. Mad broke with an 11-darter to move one leg from victory, but Cole immediately broke back with a 12-darter. In the deciding leg, Cole opened with 180 before Mad responded with the same score. Cole followed with 140, Mad with 137, leaving the pair separated by only three points after six darts.
Cole reached 81 after 12 darts, while Mad left 72. Cole missed double 12 for the match after hitting treble 19. Mad then stepped forward and finished 72 in two darts, hitting treble 16 and double 12 to complete a 4–3 victory.
Mad averaged 111.34 to Cole's 110.07, with the pair combining for 34 maximums. Cole's 110.07 became the second-highest losing average of the championship behind Mitchell's 110.18 earlier in the session. Mad progressed to the quarter-finals having averaged 109.46, 110.18 and 111.34 across his three matches, increasing his average in every round. Cole's run ended after four matches in which his average had also increased every time.
The fourth round concluded with Storm facing Mercer. Mercer took the opening set 3–2 after Storm missed one dart at double 18, but Storm responded with a 3–0 second set containing legs of 12, 13 and 11 darts. He moved 2–1 ahead in sets after taking the third 3–1 with a 124 checkout.
Mercer levelled the match by winning the fourth set 3–2. Storm had moved 2–0 ahead in legs, but Mercer recovered with three successive legs, taking the deciding leg with a 13-darter. Storm then regained control, taking the fifth set 3–1 and producing a 161 checkout in its third leg.
Mercer held the first leg of the sixth set in 14 darts, but Storm responded with consecutive 12-darters and moved within a leg of victory. Mercer levelled at 2–2 with a 116 checkout, forcing a deciding leg. Storm opened with 180 and followed with 140. Mercer replied with scores of 140 and 180, but Storm reached 81 after 12 darts. He finished it in two darts through treble 19 and double 12 to secure a 4–2 victory.
Storm averaged 109.72 to Mercer's 107.84 and hit 14 maximums. He reached the quarter-finals in his first World Championship since returning from the wrist injury suffered following the World Grand Prix. His victory completed the quarter-final line-up and set up a meeting with Mad.
Following Session 18, all eight quarter-finalists were confirmed. The top six seeds all remained in the tournament, joined by ninth seed Van Dijk and seventh seed MacLeod. Brow's 112.06 became the highest individual match average, while Mitchell's 110.18 became the highest losing average. Mad remained the only player to record a nine-dart finish, and Price's 170 remained the highest checkout.

The 2027 IDF World Darts Championship is a professional darts tournament organised by the International Darts Federation (IDF), being held from 12 December 2026 to 3 January 2027 at Alexandra Palace in London, England.
Logan White is the defending champion, having defeated Max Mad 7–6 in the 2026 final.
The tournament features 96 players, reduced from the 128-player field used in 2026. The top 32 players on the IDF Order of Merit were seeded and entered in the second round, while the remaining 64 players contested the first round for the right to join them in the 64-player main bracket.
Mad recorded the first nine-dart finish of the tournament during his second-round victory over Kieran Walsh. Leon Price holds the highest checkout with a maximum 170 finish against Nathan Owens.
Background
Format
The 2027 championship features 96 players, a reduction from the 128-player field used at the 2026 tournament.
The top 32 players on the IDF Order of Merit following the 2026 IDF Players Championship Finals were seeded and received a bye through the first round.
The remaining 64 players contested 32 first-round matches. Each first-round match was tied to a predetermined position in the second-round bracket, with the winner progressing directly to face one of the 32 seeds.
From the second round onwards, the championship operates as a conventional 64-player knockout tournament.
All matches are played using set play. Every set is contested over the best of five legs, with the first player to win three legs winning the set.
There is no extended tie-break within a set. If a set reaches two legs apiece, the fifth leg decides the set.
The match lengths are:
- First round: best of 5 sets – first to 3
- Second round: best of 5 sets – first to 3
- Third round: best of 7 sets – first to 4
- Fourth round: best of 7 sets – first to 4
- Quarter-finals: best of 9 sets – first to 5
- Semi-finals: best of 11 sets – first to 6
- Final: best of 15 sets – first to 8
The 2027 final has therefore been extended to a possible 15 sets, compared with the best-of-13-set final used in 2026.
The player throwing first in the opening set is determined by the pre-match bull, with the right to throw first alternating at the beginning of each subsequent set.
