Agent Derp is an upcoming American computer-animated film based on the Minecraft video game developed by Mojang Studios. Produced by Mob Studios, Mob Productions, and Mojang Studios, it is intended to be an installment of the Minecraft Universe (MIU).
The film was announced as being in development by Mob Studios, though no director, screenwriter, producer, cast members, story details, or release date have been revealed. The project shares its title with Agent Derp (2021), an installment of the previous Minecraft Cinematic Universe, but is expected to feature a new interpretation of the character within the rebooted continuity.
Development
Mob Studios revealed that a film titled Agent Derp was in early development as part of its plans to expand the Minecraft Universe beyond the projects announced for "Chapter One: The Broken Seed". The studio did not confirm whether the film would be included in the first chapter or released as part of a later group of projects.[1]
The title previously belonged to the 2021 film Agent Derp, which starred Scott Menville as Derp and formed part of the Minecraft Cinematic Universe. That continuity was discontinued after the release of World of X – Part One (2025) and the cancellation of its planned sequel, World of X – Part Two. The Minecraft Universe subsequently began as a complete reboot that did not retain the MCCU's cast, character histories, or mythology.
Mob Studios has not disclosed whether Menville has been approached to return or whether Derp will be recast. The studio has also not revealed whether the new film will retain the espionage and comedy elements associated with the earlier interpretation of the character.
As of August 2026, the project remained in early development. No filmmaker or writer had been publicly attached, and the film had not received a release year.[2]

Mob Studios has not announced a release date or release window for Agent Derp.
