ShooterofIO: Dark Warfare II is an upcoming first-person shooter video game developed by Air Studios and published by Mob Productions. It is the fourth main installment in the ShooterofIO series and the second entry in the Dark Warfare sub-series and a sequel to ShooterofIO: Dark Warfare (2024). The game is scheduled to release in October 2026 for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.[1][2]
Set decades after the events of its predecessor, Dark Warfare II shifts the franchise into a near-future setting, taking place in the year 2048. The title represents a tonal and mechanical evolution of the series, moving from the grounded conflicts of the 2020s into a world defined by advanced technological warfare, fractured global alliances, and morally complex battlefields.
Gameplay[edit | edit source]
Dark Warfare II features the return of the franchise’s core modes: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies. All three modes will be available at launch.
The campaign continues the Dark Warfare narrative in a new era, exploring global conflict shaped by emerging technologies and destabilized power structures. Multiplayer is designed to support large-scale combat and cross-platform play, while Zombies returns in a new iteration described by the developers as a major evolution of the mode.
The game will support cross-play and unified progression across all platforms.
Development[edit | edit source]
Dark Warfare II was developed by Air Studios, with preliminary work beginning during development of the original Dark Warfare. Reports and industry rumors that surfaced in early 2025 indicated the studio had already started planning the sequel prior to the first game’s release, which was cited as a reason the original title adopted a comparatively simpler design approach.
Marketing[edit | edit source]

On December 20, 2025, the official ShooterofIO account on X (formerly Twitter) posted a cryptic promotional image featuring a red background and two horizontal dashes. The post contained no additional context, prompting widespread speculation among fans and gaming media about the possibility of an upcoming project within the ShooterofIO franchise.[3] The teaser was later confirmed to be related to ShooterofIO: Dark Warfare II, which was officially revealed on January 13, 2026.[1]
The same day as the reveal, the studio launched the game’s promotional campaign with the release of an official teaser cinematic introducing the setting and tone of the title.[1] According to statements from Air Studios, the marketing rollout for Dark Warfare II was designed to unfold gradually through a series of staged announcements leading up to the game’s global showcase. Planned reveals included gameplay demonstrations, narrative insights, and community-focused events highlighting different aspects of the project. Developers also stated that the campaign would incorporate hidden clues and "intel drops" connected to the game’s factions and worldbuilding, encouraging players to piece together story elements ahead of release. The first wave of these promotional intel posts began on February 22, 2026.
In March 2026, Air Studios continued to promote the title through social media updates. On March 4, the studio posted a message on X expressing excitement for fans anticipating Dark Warfare II, while also cautioning players against relying on unverified rumors and leaked information circulating online. The post additionally hinted at a major reveal scheduled for June 12, alongside another announcement planned two weeks later.[4]
On March 14, 2026, the game’s main theme, titled "Dark Warfare II," was released on YouTube, confirming that the score for the game was composed by Jason Dale.[5]
