The Zerra Halo 16 Pro and Zerra Halo 16 Pro Max are flagship smartphones developed and marketed by Zerra Technologies as part of the Zerra Halo line’s sixteenth generation. They were unveiled alongside the standard Zerra Halo 16 and the ultra-thin Zerra Halo Arc at the Zerra Zenith keynote in San Francisco, California on June 10, 2025, with the Pro released on June 24 and the Pro Max on July 1, 2025. Major upgrades include the Z-Core Horizon Pro chipset, an Eclipse Ultra HDR display with ProMotion+ up to 120 Hz, and a new 48 MP periscope telephoto camera delivering 5× optical zoom.
History[edit | edit source]
Official announcement[edit | edit source]
Zerra announced the Halo 16 Pro family during its 2025 Zenith keynote, positioning the models as productivity-focused flagships with greater GPU throughput, expanded AI acceleration, and a renewed emphasis on long-range photography.
Launch and availability[edit | edit source]
Pre-orders for the Halo 16 Pro opened on June 12, 2025, with retail availability beginning June 24 in core markets. The larger Pro Max followed a staggered schedule, shipping July 1 in primary regions and one week later in additional territories.
Design[edit | edit source]
The 16 Pro line continues the flat-edge industrial design introduced with the Halo 13, adding a reinforced ceramic-aluminum frame and slimmer bezels. The camera housing incorporates a distinct periscope module. Colors at launch were Obsidian, Frost, Deep Blue, and Orchid.
Specifications[edit | edit source]
Hardware[edit | edit source]
Both models use the Z-Core Horizon Pro SoC with a dedicated NPU for on-device AI. They include 16 GB of LPDDR5X memory and offer 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB, or 2 TB[lower-alpha 1] storage options. Batteries are larger than the standard Halo 16, and fast charging supports up to 60 W via USB-C, with Qi 2 wireless charging also supported.
Displays[edit | edit source]
The 16 Pro has a 6.7 in (170 mm) Eclipse Ultra HDR OLED panel, while the Pro Max increases to 6.9 in (175 mm). Both feature 3088×1440 resolution, 1–120 Hz ProMotion+, and up to 2,600-nit HDR peak brightness, with Always-On display capability.
Cameras[edit | edit source]
The triple-camera array comprises a 50 MP wide, 48 MP ultrawide, and a 48 MP periscope telephoto offering 5× optical zoom and up to 30× digital. Horizon Pro’s imaging pipeline improves low-light performance, portrait segmentation, and 10-bit HDR video. The front camera is 24 MP with enhanced stabilization for 4K60 capture.
Sensors[edit | edit source]
Sensors include accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, ambient light, proximity, and digital compass. Biometric options are HaloID Gen-3 face recognition and Z-Key 2 ultrasonic in-display fingerprint.
Software[edit | edit source]
Shipping with ZerraOS 15, the Pro models include Adaptive UI, Zerra Share cross-device sync, and App View, a desktop-style multitasking mode with resizable windows when connected to an external display.
Reception[edit | edit source]
Early reviews praised the periscope telephoto camera and Horizon Pro performance, calling the 16 Pro line the most capable Halo to date. The Eclipse Ultra HDR panels and expanded RAM were cited as advantages for gaming and content creation. Criticism centered on higher launch pricing and the Pro Max’s weight, though overall sentiment positioned the devices as class-leading flagships.
