The IDF Darts Premier League is a professional darts tournament organised by the International Darts Federation (IDF). Established in 2024, the competition features eight players from the IDF circuit competing across a league-style season before the highest-ranked players contest the playoffs. It is one of the IDF's leading invitational events and is regarded alongside the IDF Darts World Championship and the IDF World Matchplay as part of the IDF Triple Crown.
The competition was created to provide the IDF with a regular elite-level televised league, bringing together leading Order of Merit players and selected wildcards across a travelling season. Since its foundation, the Premier League has been won by Duncan MacLeod and Alex Brow, with Brow becoming the first player to win the event more than once after retaining the title in 2026.
History[edit | edit source]
The IDF Darts Premier League was founded in 2024 as an eight-player invitational competition designed to showcase the leading players on the IDF circuit outside the traditional ranked major calendar. The inaugural edition used a weekly knockout-night structure, with players earning points towards a league table before the leading competitors advanced to the playoffs. Duncan MacLeod won the first title, defeating Niko Brant 11–6 in the final.
The tournament expanded commercially in 2025 when Volterra Energy became the official title partner. The sponsorship agreement represented the league's first major commercial partnership and supported increases in production quality, venue presentation, prize-pool investment and broadcast coverage. Volterra branding was introduced across player walk-ons, broadcast graphics and venue lighting, while the league also adopted branded statistical features such as the Volterra Power Rankings and Surge Performance Bonus.
The 2025 season marked the emergence of Alex Brow as the competition's dominant figure. Brow won the title by defeating Logan White 11–8 in the final, becoming the second champion in Premier League history. He retained the title in 2026, defeating Lukas Parker 11–10 in a deciding-leg final. Parker had finished as league winner during the regular phase of the 2026 competition, while White reached the semi-finals.
Format[edit | edit source]
The IDF Darts Premier League is contested by eight players. The field is selected from the IDF player pool, with the top four players on the IDF Order of Merit joined by four wildcard selections. Wildcards are chosen by the IDF based on ranking position, recent major performances, commercial profile, broadcast appeal and competitive balance.
The regular season is played across 16 weeks. Each night uses a single-elimination knockout format consisting of two semi-finals and a final. Players receive points based on nightly performance, and the cumulative league table determines qualification for the playoffs. The top four players after the regular season qualify for the playoff stage.
Regular-season matches are played over the best of 11 legs. No additional prize incentives are awarded for nine-dart finishes, high checkouts or individual leg statistics, although checkouts of more than 140 are recorded for statistical purposes. Prize money is reserved for the playoff stage rather than awarded weekly.
The playoffs use a longer match format. The semi-finals are played as first to 16 legs, while the final is played as first to 18 legs. Despite the longer playoff format, the official finals table records the winning score in legs and the listed best-of-leg format used for the championship match.
Qualification[edit | edit source]
Eight players compete in each edition of the tournament. The top four available players on the IDF Order of Merit qualify automatically, while the remaining four places are awarded as wildcards. Selection is usually finalised after the IDF World Championship, allowing recent major results to influence the final field.
For the 2025 season, all eight participants were selected from the player pool of the 2025 IDF World Championship, with the final line-up confirmed on 3 June 2025.

Sponsorship[edit | edit source]
Volterra Energy[edit | edit source]
Volterra Energy became the official title partner of the IDF Darts Premier League in 2025. The agreement was the competition's first major title sponsorship and was described as a significant step in the league's commercial development.
The partnership included branding across broadcast coverage, venue presentation, walk-on sequences and statistical segments. Volterra also supported clean-energy initiatives across Premier League venues, with the company promoted as the league's official sustainable energy partner. The agreement introduced several branded broadcast features, including the Volterra Power Rankings and the Surge Performance Bonus.
