ZerraOS 15 for Arc
Zerra Desktop Shell

ZerraOS 15 is the fifteenth and current major release of Zerra Technologies’ proprietary mobile operating system for the Zerra Halo line of smartphones. It was announced at the Zerra Zenith keynote on June 10, 2025, alongside the Zerra Halo 16, Zerra Halo 16 Pro, and Zerra Halo Arc, and publicly released on June 24, 2025.[1]

The update focuses on AI integration, visual refinement, and cross-device continuity. ZerraOS 15 introduces the Adaptive UI framework, deep AI-powered features through the Horizon NPU, and enhanced Zerra Share syncing between phones, tablets, and desktops.

Features[edit | edit source]

System features[edit | edit source]

Adaptive UI[edit | edit source]

ZerraOS 15 introduces an adaptive interface that changes layouts dynamically depending on context, screen size, and user habits. For instance, controls shift to the bottom of the display on larger devices like the Zerra Halo 16 Pro Max, while compact cards are displayed on the smaller Zerra Halo Arc.

Themes and customization[edit | edit source]

A redesigned theming system allows granular control over colors, icon shapes, and typography. Dynamic Accent Color adapts to wallpaper tones. Users can also build “Focus Skins” that reconfigure the interface during work hours, travel, or gaming sessions.

Battery and performance[edit | edit source]

A new mode called Smart Efficiency predicts high-usage periods, adjusting CPU/GPU scheduling without reducing network performance. Zerra claims this improves battery longevity by up to 18% compared to ZerraOS 14.[2]

AI features[edit | edit source]

Horizon AI Core[edit | edit source]

ZerraOS 15 leverages the Horizon NPU inside the Z-Core Horizon chipsets. It enables real-time translation, on-device summarization, and Scene Awareness, which automatically adjusts display tone and audio balance depending on environment.

Zerra Assist[edit | edit source]

The built-in assistant has been redesigned to integrate conversational task flow: it can manage notifications contextually, draft responses across messaging apps, and pull live information without switching apps. Developers can tap into the Zerra AI Framework with only a few lines of Swift code.

Cross-device features[edit | edit source]

Zerra Share[edit | edit source]

Zerra Share allows instant clipboard, file, and notification sync across all ZerraOS, Zerra Desktop Shell, and ZerraTab devices. It also integrates a handoff mode, letting users move live calls or documents between devices without disruption.

App View[edit | edit source]

Exclusive to Pro and Arc models, App View enables desktop-style multitasking on external displays. Apps can be opened in windows, resized, and pinned, creating a hybrid mobile–desktop environment.

Security and privacy[edit | edit source]

ZerraOS 15 introduces Memory Integrity Enforcement (MIE), a hardware–OS collaborative system that prevents memory exploits. Quantum-secure TLS is enabled by default for messaging and browsing. A new Wired Accessory Permission prompts users before data transfer via USB-C when the device is locked.

Accessibility[edit | edit source]

Accessibility features include HeadTrack, which allows gesture-based navigation using facial movements, and Voice Layer, a real-time transcription overlay for both calls and media.

App features[edit | edit source]

  • Messages: adds polls, custom backgrounds, and in-line translation.
  • Photos: introduces 3D parallax editing using Horizon sensors.
  • Music: adds AutoMix transitions and real-time lyric translation.
  • Notes: now supports Markdown export and live transcription of audio recordings.
  • Camera: redesigned layout with customizable quick settings and lens-cleaning prompts.
  • Games Hub: consolidates titles from Zerra Play and third-party stores, with achievement tracking and party chat.

Supported devices[edit | edit source]

ZerraOS 15 supports the Zerra Halo 13 and newer, but drops official support for the Zerra Halo 12 series and earlier models. Certain features, such as App View and Horizon AI Core, require the Z-Core Horizon or Z-Core Horizon Pro chipsets.

Reception[edit | edit source]

Reception to ZerraOS 15 was broadly positive, with critics praising its integration of AI features and deep customization options. The Verge described it as “the first ZerraOS release that feels ahead of both Android and iOS in certain areas,” particularly citing App View and Horizon AI Core. However, some reviews noted occasional stutters on older supported devices and expressed concern over the more aggressive base pricing for Halo 16 models running the OS.[3]
