The Zerra Halo 16 is a smartphone developed and marketed by Zerra Technologies that is part of the sixteenth generation of the Zerra Halo line. Succeeding the Halo 15 series, the device was announced alongside the higher-priced Halo 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max and the thinner Zerra Halo Arc during the Zerra Zenith keynote on June 10, 2025, in San Francisco, California.[1] The Halo 16 became available for purchase later that month.[2]
Critics generally praised the Zerra Halo 16 for its combination of design refinements and new hardware features, highlighting the Z-Core Horizon processor and AI-driven ZerraOS 15 as major steps forward for the series. Reviewers commended the Adaptive UI and Zerra Share for their practical applications, calling them “thoughtful innovations rather than gimmicks.” The Eclipse Ultra OLED display also received positive attention for its brightness and ProMotion support on all models, though some noted that battery life remained only marginally better than the Halo 15. Users responded favorably to the slimmer chassis and camera improvements, with early sales figures suggesting strong adoption, particularly of the Pro and Arc variants. Z-Core Horizon processor[edit | edit source]
The Halo 16 is powered by the Z-Core Horizon system-on-chip, featuring a redesigned neural engine optimized for artificial intelligence workloads. This allows for faster on-device processing of tasks such as image recognition, real-time translation, and adaptive user interface adjustments without requiring cloud connectivity.[3]
Adaptive UI with ZerraOS 15[edit | edit source]
A new feature introduced in ZerraOS 15 is Adaptive UI, which changes the interface layout dynamically based on context. The system can enlarge controls during one-handed use, dim background notifications during video calls, and rearrange widgets based on daily patterns. The Halo 16 is the first device to fully integrate this feature.

The Halo 16 introduces Zerra Share, a cross-device synchronization system that allows files, messages, and notifications to be mirrored across Zerra devices in real time. Unlike previous solutions, Zerra Share works offline over ultra-wideband (UWB) and local mesh networking, enabling transfers even without an internet connection.
Advanced Eclipse Ultra OLED[edit | edit source]
The display of the Halo 16 debuts the third generation Eclipse Ultra OLED, offering a peak brightness of 2,200 nits and support for HDR+ content. It also supports a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate on all models, including the standard Halo 16, a feature previously exclusive to Pro models.

The Halo 16 camera system is enhanced with Dual Capture framing. This allows both the front and rear cameras to be used simultaneously, automatically generating composite images or video feeds. The feature is designed for vloggers and conference calls, and is powered by Horizon’s computational imaging pipeline.
Satellite connectivity[edit | edit source]
For the first time in the Halo lineup, the Halo 16 includes an emergency satellite beacon system. Users can send SOS messages or share their location in regions without cellular coverage. Zerra partnered with global satellite providers to enable this feature at launch in North America, Europe, and parts of Asia.

The Halo 16 retains the flat-edge design introduced with the Halo 13, but with slimmer bezels and a reduced camera bump compared to the Halo 15.[4] It comes in five color options: Solar Silver, Obsidian, Skyfall, Rose Quartz, and Pearl White.

Hardware[edit | edit source]
The device is powered by the Z-Core Horizon system-on-chip, featuring improved neural cores for on-device AI processing. It ships with 12 GB of LPDDR5X memory and comes in storage options ranging from 256 GB to 2 TB. The battery supports Zerra’s 45W USB-C fast-charging, delivering up to 50% charge in under 20 minutes.[5]

The Halo 16 features a 6.4-inch Eclipse Ultra OLED display with a resolution of 2700×1224 pixels and support for up to 120 Hz refresh rates. It also introduces Always-On functionality within ZerraOS 15.
Camera[edit | edit source]
The rear camera system consists of a triple-lens array: a 50 MP wide main camera, a 48 MP ultrawide, and a 12 MP telephoto lens. The system uses computational imaging powered by the Horizon neural engine for enhanced low-light and portrait photography. The front camera is a 20 MP wide lens with improved low-light sensitivity and Zerra’s Dual Capture framing.

At launch, the Halo 16 runs ZerraOS 15, which adds AI-driven personalization features such as Adaptive UI, Smart Energy Saver, and Zerra Share cross-device syncing. Long-term support is expected for at least five years of major OS updates.
