The 2026 IDF World Darts Championship was a professional darts tournament that took place from 11 December 2025 to 3 January 2026 at Alexandra Palace in London, England. Organised by the International Darts Federation (IDF), it was the fourth edition of the IDF World Darts Championship and the first edition to feature a total prize fund of $5,000,000. The winner received $1,000,000.
The tournament will feature a 128 player field, with the top 32 players on the IDF Order of Merit being seeded in the first round. Alex Brow was the defending champion, having defeated Logan White 7–4 in the 2025 final to win his first world title. However, he was defeated by White in the quarter-finals 3–5. White went on to win the event for the first time in his career, beating Mad 7-6.

The tournament was contested in a set-play format and featured 64 players. The top 32 players on the IDF Order of Merit qualified automatically and were seeded for the first round. They were joined by 32 qualifiers from the IDF Pro Tour, the Development Series, the Next Gen Tour, regional affiliate systems and international qualifying events.
Overview
The International Darts Federation (IDF) was founded in 2022 to provide greater opportunities for players outside the established Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) system, particularly in Australia, where many competitors identified as casual or semi-professional sought access to major events with comparable prize funds. The federation staged its inaugural IDF World Darts Championship in 2023, with Alexandra Palace in London serving as the host venue since the beginning.

Alex Brow was the defending champion, having defeated Logan White 7–4 in the 2025 final. Brow reached the semi-finals, where he was defeated by Max Mad. White won the title, defeating Mad 7–6 in the final. The final was the first IDF World Championship final to go to a deciding thirteenth set.
The upcoming 2026 IDF World Darts Championship will be the fourth edition of the tournament and the fourth consecutive to be held at Alexandra Palace, running from 10 December 2025 to 7 January 2026. A record field of 128 players, including 32 seeds, will compete following the IDF’s March 2025 decision to expand the draw from 96 to 128 entrants. Alex Brow will return as defending champion after defeating Logan White 7–4 in the 2025 final to claim his first world title.

White became the first American player to win the IDF World Championship. His campaign included victories over Carter Mills, Ryan Thomas, Zion Carter, Elias Storm and Mad. Mad reached his fourth consecutive World Championship final, having won the 2023 and 2024 editions before losing in the 2026 final. Brow hit the tournament's only nine-dart finish during his quarter-final victory over Theo Bartlett.
Format
Under the new format, all players – including the 32 seeds – will enter the tournament in the first round, a change from previous years where seeds entered in the second round. The 32 seeds will be the top 32 players on the IDF Order of Merit heading into the tournament. The seeded players, plus players ranked 33–64 drawn at random, will be placed on the left hand side of the draw, and will be matched up against the remaining 64 qualifiers drawn at random.

Overview
All matches will consist of games of 501, where players are required to reduce their score from 501 to zero in order to win a leg, finishing on a double or the bullseye. The matches are played in set format, with the amount of sets required to win a match increasing as the tournament progresses. All sets will be played to the best of five legs in the first round, and also in non-deciding sets of subsequent rounds. In the deciding set of all but the first round, the first player to win at least three legs and be leading by two or more will win the set and the match. If the set reaches a 5–5 tie without a winner, it will be decided by a sudden death leg.

The IDF World Darts Championship is the premier tournament organised by the International Darts Federation. The 2026 edition was the fourth staging of the event and marked the largest expansion of the championship's prize fund since the tournament began in 2023. The increase to $5,000,000 was presented by the IDF as part of a wider effort to establish the event as one of the most lucrative tournaments in professional darts.

The tournament was again staged at Alexandra Palace in London. Although earlier IDF material had associated the championship with Australia, the Alexandra Palace staging was retained for the 2026 edition because of its symbolic status in darts and its suitability for a longer world championship schedule.

Brow entered the tournament as defending champion after winning the 2025 title. Mad, the 2023 and 2024 champion, entered as one of the favourites after winning the 2025 IDF World Matchplay and 2025 IDF World Grand Prix. White entered as the number one seed and was seeking his first world title after finishing runner-up to Brow in 2025.

Format
The tournament featured 64 players. All matches were played in sets, with each set played as the best of five legs. The number of sets required to win increased as the tournament progressed.

Because the tournament was played in sets, match averages did not always directly reflect the match winner. Several players won matches despite recording lower averages than their opponents, usually because they finished more efficiently in deciding legs or won the final leg of close sets.
Ranking
The IDF's main world ranking system, the IDF Order of Merit, is calculated on a two-year cycle. Prize money won by players in ranking tournaments are removed from their ranking after 104 weeks, meaning players who participated in the 2024 World Championship, who did not lose their IDF Tour Card during the two-year period, will be 'defending' their prize money from that event. At the end of the tournament, the prize money won at the 2026 tournament will be added and the prize money won at the 2024 tournament will be removed. After the tournament, the top 64 players in the IDF Order of Merit will receive a one-year extension on their Tour Card, joined by the players who earned two-year Tour Cards in 2025 who will enter their second year in 2026. Players with two or more years on their Tour Card, who finish outside of the top 64, will lose their Tour Card and see their ranking reset to $0, along with all other players who earned prize money in ranking tournaments without holding a Tour Card.

Prize money
Prize money
The total prize fund was $5,000,000.
On 31 March 2025, the IDF announced the biggest prize money increase in the organisation's history, starting from the 2026 season onward. Coinciding with the expansion of the field to 128 players, the World Championship's total prize money and winner's share doubled from $2,500,000 to $5,000,000 and from $500,000 to $1,000,000 respectively; this was the first time the tournament's prize money increased. The winner will also receive the IDF World Trophy. The prize money breakdown is shown below:

Order of Merit qualifiers
40 players qualified for the tournament by virtue of being ranked in the top 40 of the PDC Order of Merit. Defending champion Luke Littler is the number one seed going into the tournament, having achieved world number one status on his way to winning the 2025 Grand Slam. He enters the World Championship off the back of claiming his sixth major title of 2025 at the Players Championship Finals; his other titles included the last World Championship, the World Matchplay and his second Grand Slam. Luke Humphries, the 2024 world champion and previous world number one, is the second seed. He won two major titles during the season—the World Masters and the Premier League—and finished as runner-up at a further three major tournaments. The third seed is three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen, who ended a two-year major title drought by winning the World Series Finals in September. Two-time World Championship semi-finalist and former BDO world champion Stephen Bunting is the fourth seed. Welsh number one Jonny Clayton and 2022 UK Open champion Danny Noppert are the fifth and sixth seeds, while four-time World Championship semi-finalist James Wade is seeded seventh in his 22nd appearance at the tournament. 2025 semi-finalist Chris Dobey and 2021 world champion Gerwyn Price completed the top ten alongside tenth seed Gian van Veen, who achieved his first major title at the European Championship and retained his World Youth Championship during the year.

Former world champions Gary Anderson, Rob Cross, Michael Smith and Peter Wright are all amongst the seeded players. Josh Rock and Daryl Gurney, who won the World Cup for Northern Ireland, are the 11th and 22nd seeds. 13th seed Martin Schindler is one of eight German players taking part—a tournament record. Nathan Aspinall, the most prolific player on the 2025 European Tour with three titles, is the 15th seed after finishing as runner-up to Littler at the Players Championship Finals. 19th seed Jermaine Wattimena claimed his first two PDC ranking titles in 2025 Players Championship events. Former major champions who are also seeded include 2022 European champion Ross Smith, 2024 World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker, 2020 World Matchplay champion Dimitri Van den Bergh, 2024 European champion Ritchie Edhouse and 2022 Masters champion Joe Cullen; Cullen secured the 32nd and final seeded position. Outside of the top 32 seeds, eight more players qualified through the PDC Order of Merit and are unseeded in the tournament draw, including five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld who will make his 33rd World Championship appearance across both the PDC and BDO tournaments, as well as 2023 UK Open champion Andrew Gilding.

Noah O’Brien also progressed following a 4–1 win over Logan Morgan. The results established the fourth-round line-up, with all remaining matches now played over longer formats.

Final
Fourth round
The final was played on 3 January between White and Mad. Mad was appearing in his fourth consecutive World Championship final, while White was appearing in his second after losing to Brow in 2025. In the adjacent tie, Felix Grant progressed with a 4–3 victory over Wei Zhang in a deciding set encounter, with the lead changing several times before Grant secured the final set.

Mad responded by winning two consecutive sets to lead 5–4, but White levelled with a 130 checkout. The match reached 6–6 after Mad won the twelfth set 3–1. In the deciding set, White broke throw in the third leg and then held in the fourth to win the match 7–6.

Across the four matches, the quarter-finals were characterised by competitive scoring and narrow margins between players. Several matches saw momentum change during the latter stages, with players recovering from deficits to force deciding sets. The balance between seeded players and lower-ranked qualifiers remained evident, as multiple unseeded competitors progressed deep into the tournament, reflecting a competitive field entering the final stages of the championship.

Final
| RD1-team33=
The final, a best-of-13-sets match between Max Mad and Logan White, was played on 3 January and was refereed by Russ Bray, who since early 2025 had officiated only the final of the International Darts Federation (IDF) World Championship. Mad was appearing in his third final after winning the 2023 and 2024 editions, while White reached his second consecutive final following his runner-up finish the previous year. Mad reached the final after defeating Jack O’Connor, Blake Carter, and Felix Grant, while White defeated Ethan Wright, Reed Hamilton, and defending champion Alex Brow. The match therefore paired the two highest-performing players of the latter stages of the tournament and guaranteed either Mad’s third title or White’s first.

White began the match strongly, winning the opening set after taking the decisive third leg and capitalising on missed finishing attempts from Mad. Mad responded by taking the second set to level the match before White regained the lead by winning the third. The early stages remained balanced, with the players sharing scoring advantages across successive sets. White extended his lead by winning consecutive sets to move ahead in the first half of the match, maintaining a higher finishing rate during this period. Mad reduced the deficit by claiming the following set before the interval, leaving the match still within reach.

Following the break, Mad increased his scoring consistency and won two consecutive sets to level the match. The players then exchanged sets through the middle stages, with neither able to establish a decisive advantage. White later moved back in front, requiring two sets to secure the championship, but Mad again responded to reduce the deficit and force the later stages of the match to remain competitive. The match continued into the closing portion with both players maintaining similar scoring levels and multiple legs decided on final-dart finishing opportunities.

The win ended Mad’s attempt to regain the title and marked White’s first major championship on the IDF circuit. White became the third different champion in the tournament’s history and the third player to win the event since its inception. Mad finished as runner-up, his first defeat in a World Championship final, while White’s victory also improved his position in the IDF Order of Merit. Following the presentation ceremony, both players participated in post-match interviews, with White describing the victory as the most significant achievement of his career and Mad acknowledging White’s finishing in the latter stages as decisive.

Aftermath
<!-- SEMI-FINALS -->
White's victory moved him to the top of the IDF Order of Merit and gave the United States its first IDF World Championship title. Mad's defeat meant he had reached all four IDF World Championship finals but had lost the last two, while Brow's semi-final exit ended his title defence despite producing the highest losing average of the tournament.

The final also became a reference point for set-play analysis within the IDF because Mad averaged higher but lost the match. The result was used as an example of how set play can reward timing, finishing and isolated high-pressure legs more than raw scoring dominance.

The 2026 IDF World Darts Championship was a professional darts tournament that began on 10 December 2025 and concluded on 7 January 2026 at Alexandra Palace in London, England. It is the 4th World Darts Championship to be organised by the International Darts Federation and the 4th to be held at Alexandra Palace. The winner will receive $1,000,000 from a total prize fund of $5,000,000.

Overview

Alex Brow will enter the tournament as the defending champion after winning the 2025 event.

Round Best of (sets) First to (sets)
First & second 5 3
Third & fourth 7 4
Quarter-finals 9 5
Semi-finals 11 6
Final 13 7

Brow, seeded second, opened his campaign with a high-scoring 3–2 victory over Vince Young. Both players maintained three-figure scoring for much of the match, but Brow secured the deciding set to progress. He later defeated Tanner Vaughn 3–0 to reach the third round. Elsewhere in the bottom section, Logan White began his tournament with a 3–1 win over Chase Wallace before defeating Jayden Cross 3–2 in the second round to advance. Nathan Reeves progressed with a 3–2 win over Youssef Ibrahim before defeating Ahmed Hassan in the deciding set. Wei Zhang advanced through his opening match and later defeated Chen Liu 3–2, completing the section’s third-round line-up. The matches were closely contested overall, with multiple deciding sets across the section. Min-Jae Park progressed from the third section after defeating Haruto Mori and later overcoming Ji-Hoon Kim, while André Santos defeated Paulo Ferreira and Tomas Alvarez to advance. In the fourth section, Blake Carter began his run with a 3–1 victory over Leonardo Vargas and later defeated Quinn Sanders 3–1, while Adrian Silva progressed through successive wins to reach the later stages of the draw.

In the bottom half, Lukas Parker opened with a 3–1 victory over Hunter Clark and later defeated Riley Morgan 3–1. Victor Vaughn advanced with a 3–1 win over Carter Ellis, and Jett Pearson defeated Connor Black to progress. Trevor Kane moved through after defeating Bryan Matthews, while Reed Hamilton advanced after overcoming Dominic Flynn. Logan White progressed through his section, and Ethan Wright advanced after successive wins, including a victory over Carter Mills. The remaining first-round matches saw Noah O’Brien defeat Harrison Lewis before advancing past Uriah Walker, while Logan Morgan and Hunter James both recorded victories in their opening ties. The round concluded with Brow, Mad, White, Parker, and Carter among the leading seeds successfully progressing, with several seeded players eliminated in deciding sets during the opening stage of the tournament.

Second round

The second round was played across 10–14 December in best-of-five-set matches and reduced the field to the final 32 players. Defending champion Alex Brow progressed after defeating Tanner Vaughn 3–0, maintaining control of the match with consistent scoring. He was later joined in the next stage by Noah O’Brien, who advanced with a 3–1 victory over Uriah Walker and then defeated Harrison Lewis to continue his run. In the same quarter of the draw, Logan White advanced after a 3–2 victory over Jayden Cross, having earlier defeated Chase Wallace in the opening round. Ethan Wright also progressed after defeating Carter Mills 3–1, completing the section’s third-round line-up.

Top seed Max Mad continued his campaign with a 3–1 win over Jordan Knight following his opening victory, while Xander Young advanced after a deciding-set victory over Damon Edwards. Jack O’Connor progressed by defeating Cian Murphy before recording another win to reach the next stage. Elsewhere in the section, Rory Campbell and Angus McLeod both recorded victories before O’Connor defeated Campbell to advance. The results ensured the top seed remained on course to meet O’Connor in the fourth round.

Felix Grant moved through the second section after defeating Tariq Mahmoud, while Nathan Reeves advanced with a deciding-set win over Ahmed Hassan. Wei Zhang also progressed after defeating Chen Liu, completing the section’s third-round participants. In the adjacent section, Min-Jae Park defeated Haruto Mori before overcoming Ji-Hoon Kim to advance, and André Santos recorded successive wins to move into the next round.

In the bottom half, Lukas Parker defeated Riley Morgan 3–1 to reach the third round, while Victor Vaughn advanced after defeating Alec Baker. Jett Pearson progressed following victory over Eric Lawson, and Trevor Kane defeated Bryan Matthews to advance. Reed Hamilton joined them after defeating Dominic Flynn. Blake Carter also progressed in the opposite half of the draw after defeating Quinn Sanders, while Adrian Silva advanced through successive victories to reach the later stages of the tournament.

Third round

The third round was played from 12–16 December in best-of-seven-set matches and determined the final 16 players. In the top section, top seed Max Mad advanced with a 4–2 victory over Xander Young after previously overcoming Jordan Knight. Mad maintained control through the middle stages of the match to progress to the fourth round. Jack O’Connor joined him after defeating Rory Campbell 4–3 in a deciding set encounter. In the adjacent matches, Felix Grant defeated Nathan Reeves 4–3 to advance, while Wei Zhang progressed with a 4–2 victory over Amir Khan.

Min-Jae Park advanced from the next section after defeating Ji-Hoon Kim 4–2, and André Santos reached the fourth round with a 4–3 victory over Kenji Sato. Blake Carter progressed with a 4–2 win over Marco Castillo, while Adrian Silva defeated Ashton Rivera 4–3 to complete the section’s qualifiers for the fourth round.

In the bottom half of the draw, Lukas Parker defeated Victor Vaughn 4–2 to progress, and Jett Pearson advanced after a 4–3 victory over Alex Harris. Trevor Kane secured his place in the fourth round with a 4–3 win over Cameron Doyle, while Reed Hamilton defeated Dominic Flynn 4–2. Logan White moved through after defeating Marcus Reed 4–2, and Ethan Wright advanced with a 4–3 victory over Ashton Cole.

Defending champion Alex Brow produced one of the strongest performances of the round, defeating Spencer Taylor 4–2 after earlier victories in the opening stages. Noah O’Brien also progressed following a 4–1 win over Logan Morgan. The results established the fourth-round line-up, with all remaining matches now played over longer formats.

Fourth round

The fourth round was played from 12–16 December in best-of-seven-set matches and determined the quarter-finalists. In the top section, top seed Max Mad defeated Jack O’Connor 4–2 to advance, maintaining control after a balanced opening portion of the match. In the adjacent tie, Felix Grant progressed with a 4–3 victory over Wei Zhang in a deciding set encounter, with the lead changing several times before Grant secured the final set.

In the next section, André Santos advanced after defeating Min-Jae Park 4–2, overturning an early deficit during the middle stages of the match. Blake Carter also moved through following a 4–3 victory over Adrian Silva in another deciding-set contest. The result placed Carter into the quarter-finals for the second consecutive year.

In the bottom half of the draw, Lukas Parker defeated Jett Pearson 4–2 to progress, while Reed Hamilton advanced after a 4–3 win over Trevor Kane. Logan White secured his place in the quarter-finals with a 4–1 victory over Ethan Wright, controlling the match after taking an early lead. Defending champion Alex Brow completed the quarter-final line-up by defeating Noah O’Brien 4–3, recovering from a deficit to win the deciding set and continue his title defence.

Quarter-finals

The quarter-finals were played on 1 January in best-of-nine-set matches. In the top half, top seed Max Mad defeated Felix Grant 5–3 to reach the semi-finals. Mad established an early advantage and maintained a consistent scoring level through the middle stages of the match, preventing Grant from drawing level after the interval. Grant remained competitive and reduced the deficit late in the contest, but Mad secured the eighth set to complete the victory. In the adjacent match, Blake Carter overcame André Santos 5–4 in the closest tie of the round. Santos opened strongly and held a narrow lead for much of the match, though Carter responded by winning consecutive sets to force a deciding set, which he claimed to advance.

In the bottom half, Reed Hamilton defeated Lukas Parker 5–4 in another deciding-set encounter. Parker led during the early stages, but Hamilton recovered to level the match before securing the ninth set. The result ended Parker’s run despite consistent scoring throughout the match. The final quarter-final saw Logan White defeat Alex Brow 5–3 in a meeting between the runner-up and defending champion. White began the match strongly and held a multi-set advantage before Brow reduced the deficit during the latter stages. White, however, maintained control and secured the match in the eighth set to advance.

The results produced a semi-final line-up of Max Mad against Blake Carter and Reed Hamilton against Logan White. Notably, all four semi-finalists had progressed through closely contested matches, with three of the four quarter-finals requiring either a deciding set or late-match turnaround. The round also confirmed the elimination of the defending champion Brow, guaranteeing a new champion for the 2026 edition.

Semi-finals

The semi-finals were played on 2 January in best-of-11-set matches. In the first semi-final, Max Mad defeated Blake Carter 6–4 to reach the World Championship final for the third time. Mad took an early lead by winning the opening sets, but Carter responded to level the match during the middle stages. The players exchanged sets to 4–4 before Mad won consecutive sets to secure victory. Carter remained competitive throughout the match but was unable to regain the lead after Mad’s late scoring surge.

In the second semi-final, Logan White defeated Reed Hamilton 6–5 in the closest match of the tournament to that stage. The match remained level across much of the contest, with neither player establishing a lead greater than one set. Hamilton forced a deciding eleventh set after recovering from a late deficit, but White secured the final set to advance to the championship match. The results produced a final between Max Mad and Logan White, a repeat meeting between two of the tournament’s strongest performers. Mad reached his third final appearance, while White advanced to his second consecutive final after finishing runner-up the previous year.

Final

White secured the title by winning the decisive set to complete a 7–6 victory and claim his first IDF World Championship.
